Interview With A Fantasy

Authors of transgender fiction have written many stories on the theme of the male who became a female fashion model. What is it they say about "truth is stranger than fiction?" A young Serbian-Australian man is now the hottest thing on the female fashion runways of London and Paris. His* story trumps many of the fictional ones I've enjoyed reading here.

Here is an interview by an Australian television station with Andrej Pejic, his family, peers, and others in the fashion world.

Sometimes life is shitty...

The universe seems to be dropping great piles of poo on me from a great height. First, work has been a bitch, then I get the cold which leaves me with the cough for weeks.

Last weekend I had trouble with the gears on my bike and it might ultimately mean new gear/brake levers - they're not cheap.

Kudos by title

I just wondered if it was possible/difficult to pull out kudos for each story, possibly put it as a separate column in the my stories page. From my PoV it would be useful to see which of my stories/chapters were better appreciated (more specifically to see which ones bombed so that I don't repeat the same mistakes).

Sorry Erin if this opens a can of worms.

Melanie Ezell's Big Closet Ultimate Writer's Challenge — February — Where No (Wo)man Has Gone Before

Arthur Denton (parents had a sense of humour) has just turned seventeen. He's been waiting for this day for most of his life, because today he's old enough to apply to join the Fleet Scout Service. It's not just the thrill of adventure that attracts him either, you see they promise to turn him into the person he's always wanted to be.

To Catch a Thief~7

We moved off silently: so silently that I could clearly hear the beating of my heart. Alicia’s Aunt inspected me with slightly raised and perfectly shaped eyebrows. She wasn’t smiling...

My Mother Called This Evening With, "Good News"

Edeyn At least, that’s what she said. I think it is more Pleasant News than Good News, personally, because it does bring up a lot of anguish from within me.

My baby brother died in September of 2007, on his way to school as a Freshman in High School (grade 9 for you non-North Americans). Home was between 100 and 110 meters from school. An old man (80+) was doing over 70mph (112kph) in the school speed zone during the time that most children are walking to school.

OK, you may as well know.

Well, I had an MRI a couple weeks ago, and now I know why things are the way they are. As far as I am concerned, I function pretty well, have no physical disabilities, and have been pretty successful in life. One thing that has always bothered me is that in certain social situations, I just mess up. I just don't understand what is going on.

Negitive self-image

I have been fighting a losing battle with negative self-image lately, and yesterday, I think I figured out why. I was working in the health and beauty department, restocking the hair color isle, when it hit me. Every box I put on the shelf had a picture of a beautiful woman, with flawless skin, amazing hair, and all the rest. Each picture was like water torture, eroding my ability to see myself as passable, much less pretty. I have to keep fighting this feeling. Despair is deadly.

Story word counts

I just about have Ch 3 ready, finally, and this afternoon was looking at the other two chapters to see how they matched up with Ch 3 and at the heading of one of the chapters, it said the word count was about 40,000 words. Well I already knew that from my having done most of my writing in MS Word; though I am now using Works until I work out some issues with using Word. That works out to about 25 pages and for me that seems like a comfortable amount of work to do per chapter.

Gaby - Changes taster

As it's Drew/Gaby's birthday on February 25th I thought I'd give you a little something to read.Originally released to attendees of the 2010 Gabycon in Dorset this is a short extract from the new Gaby book I'm currently working on Changes. I hope you all enjoy this little taster and I'm all fired up and I'll be scribbling away with fervour for the next few weeks! For now though I'll leave you to enjoy this short extract.

”“”¬You seen this Drew”?” ”¬Anna waved a bit of paper at him.

”“”¬Dunno,” ”¬what is it,” ”¬hold it still I can’t read it flapping about.””

“There’s a big RPG and Manga convention at Ká¶ln Messe next month.””

She passed the flyer across the table to him.

”“”¬Looks cool huh”?”

“Gis a chance.””

It certainly looked like somewhere to visit”; ”¬four huge halls full of gaming,” ”¬costuming and a fair bit more besides.

Princess and the plague book 2?

I have just started on a possible sequal to Princess and the Plague, which I guess is a sequal to Camp Kumoni. I have some ideas, but am not quite sure how I want to play them out. I want to get a few episodes written before I begin posting, It might be a few weeks, but wanted to let you know that I haven't given up on the story, yet.

A.A.

p.s. I'm still trying to come up with a title for it too.

BC-V1 Chat Meeting - Part 2

We had a productive but fairly technical chat meeting last night and hammered out some details of how the book will look and calculated again to be sure we can get 150,000 words into 320 pages of an 8x10 trade paperback with nice margins and typography. It is not only doable, I think it will be quite a handsome book!

The King's Speech

Last night we were fortunate enough to view The King's Speech. What performances by Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush! Even though I live across the pond, I was familiar with some of the acrimony between Elizabeth II's mother, and Edward and Wallis Simpson. I know that it carried over to the Queen. Neither of the brother's wanted to be king. Many say that The Queen Mother blamed Edward for George's early death. The fact that he was addicted to cigarettes certainly contributed to that. I don't think I was aware of George VI's speech impediment.

Big Closet-Volume 1 - Chat Meetings

Here's the idea, a trade paperback of around 300-320 pages featuring some of the best stuff that has appeared on BigCloset over the last eleven years and perhaps some new stuff, too. The book would be 6x9 inches, more or less, and retail for $15. That's around 100,000 words, btw. The book would be available to be ordered here on BC, through Amazon and possibly through other channels. There might be an electronic edition which would probably be sold for $10. And we might put the electronic edition into the Hatbox for contributors.

Odyssey II Part 10

Part 10

James quickly reached and passed through the tree line into the marsh beyond. The closer he got to the water the soggier the terrain became. It didn't take him long to start sinking into the mud and stumble forward. Struggling to stay on his feet he kept going but stumbled and fell every few feet. The mud was so sticky it sucked the shoes off his feet as he struggled forward. His blind progress slowed until he was so mired he couldn't free himself from the muck. By that point he simply fell forward and started to cry like a little baby .

An airline is opening up, and 4 of the latest recruits for cabin staff are TS!

The report is of course in German, and I don't have time right now to translate it all, but will do, probably tomorrow some time.

The airline chief is reported to be pleased and is wanting more TS employees.

Spare a thought for our N.Z. friends.

Several of our author friends are N.Z. natives, and the recent quake has really left a mess in it's wake. My dear friend Prudence Walker is a Cristchurch resident, and I am very worried about her right now. We haven't co-responded in quite awhile, but I know why, and I understand why we haven't.

Prue, if you read this, know that I'm still out here, and I hope you and yours are okay. I miss you a lot, but, as I said, I know why you had to go silent, and I accept that. My prayers are for you, yours, and all the residents of New Zealand.

I noticed this large article this morning.

This person has been around a while and has naturally piqued my interest. I would guess, from looking at the pictures, a clear case of AIS, no? Just on the man side, of course.

I would give much to have killer hips like hers!

he finds Tiffany and Kate have already made new plans to include his feminine alter-ego.
He's stuck with the choice of an average fireworks show as Zach,
or a fun all girls Fourth of July pool party as Bailey...

New Shampoo

New Shampoo

“Mom! What is this shampoo? Its in a pink bottle!”

“Just picked it up, by accident at the mall, Charles.”

“I can't use this! It's called 'Make me pretty'!”

“Come on. Shampoo is shampoo.”

“Fine!”

Later....

“Mom, that shampoo...it had some side effects.”

“Side effects? What do you mean?”

“Well, for starters, you might need to start calling me Cheryl”

The usage of the apostrophe

OK, sorry people, I am not an English teacher, but I could sure use a little help here. I am aware that the apostrophe can be used to show possession or ownership. However, a word like "harm" can not own or possess, so I think it goes after the end of the word, like "harms'". Is that correct?

Much peace

Referenced here. Ordinarily I avoid these things because, in the past they've all been the same awful depictions (I'm not kidding when I say one featured a TG prostitute/possible drug addict in Vegas), but this one is different.

I wouldn't be ashamed to be one of the people on this show

Urban Asalt Vehicle

Wisconsin has done it. In the past they needed Urban Asalt Vehicles in Georgia, Alabama, and Texas. Now, in the historic but contentious times of this week, the major urban areas in Wisconsin had to employ fleets of Urban Asalt Vehicles. We can all wish that these will not be needed again.

The Half Lilin: By The Light Of The Moon (Chapter 9)

By Shinieris

She looked worried when she said, "Umm, I don't know. Maybe you're seeing the date of death for this body. You're likely seeing the death of 'Sue', not 'Mihael'.

"I don't like it either way, Sue."

"Death is the fate of all things living. Through death, life is born and prosper, until death claims them too and the cycle repeats again and again and again."

"See, this is the problem with you angels. You always sound so positive about everything."

Looking for a story

I hope someone can help me - I'm looking for a story I read several years ago. It involves the central character having permanent makeup applied to his face against his will, possibly while he was asleep. It leaves him looking extremely feminine and as a result he is forced to further feminise himself (I think).
Any suggestions?
Thanks, Melissa

“Why did you come after me?” I asked as Mom opened the door on the van. She looked at me and Abby and realized that Abby had the situation under control.

“Because I’ve been in your shoes…” Was Abby’s simple, but profound statement. I slowly glanced up at her.
