Dwayne Wade is my hero.......

I have developed a habit over the years of watching the news, well actually listening to it, while I am getting ready for work in the morning. As I am usually in a hotel room during the week, I generally select whatever local network station is easiest to find (excepting Fox of course - I would rather poke myself in the eye with a sharp stick!), but it does allow me to at least keep up on a little bit of what happened overnight in the world.

Merging stories Bab's New Years Resolution and Heir to a Title

Merging the two stories 'Heir to a Title with 'Bab's New Years Resolution'.

Just as I blended the tail end of my story 'Skipper into to the beginning of 'Heir to a title,' so I have now taken the opportunity to weave together the last parts of 'Heir to a Title with the on-going story of 'Bab's New Year's Resolution'.

I have put a note in the Notes preceding chapter 33 of Bab's New years Resolution.

Hope too many people won't be offended by this short cut but it's the best way to deal with the time element devoted to writing.

Best regards,

Bad news from South Dakota

Following on from my blog posts about Georgie Stone, it's sad to read that South Dakota House of Reps has passed a bill making it a criminal offence for doctors to treat transgender youths under the age of 16 with puberty blockers. Rep Fred Deutsch originally compared the treatment to medical experiments in Nazi concentration camps, although he's now backed off after widespread criticism. Many medical associations have expressed their dismay at the bill since untreated transgender youths are more at risk of suicide.

Congratulations Georgie Stone

Georgie Stone, 19-year-old transgender rights advocate and her mother Rebekah were both awarded a 'Medal of the Order of Australia' (OAM) in this year's Australia Day awards. Georgie was the youngest recipient this year. Identifying as female at the age of two, Georgie and her mother were instrumental in having the Australian law changed so that transgender children no longer have to apply to the Family Court to start receiving stage 1 hormone-blocking treatment. Georgie started to receive hers at the age of 10.

"Lifeline" -- Truth As Bad As Fiction

Been reading the very excellent "Lifeline" by Cyclist, the story of a survivor of the worst kind of child abuse.

Lo and behold, from the same corner of the world, comes this news story of official neglect and failure at protecting children in care:

Christopher Tolkien has passed away

Christopher Tolkien, son on J.R.R. Tolkien has passed away. He had taken his father's notes and crafted the Similairian, the story of the First age and the fight of the Elves against Morgoth, the first Dark Lord. I've read the book more times than I can count, and find more to learn every time.

Rest in peace, Christopher. May you be safe in the Undying lands with your father.

somebody was having a bad day today

Ok so I went to go pick up my daughter and take her to school cause it was -38 C. On my way there I listened to the traffic report, and apparently, there was a car on fire on one of the main roads. Let me say that again. The car was ON FIRE. I thought to myself, "I bet that person is having the worst day they've had in a while. Because things would have to be going pretty badly before it was 'my car caught on fire in -38 C' bad."

Dangerous Fault in Win 10

I am not sure that I know enough about this to comment. I am relaying what I saw on BBC, about a notice that American NSA put out. Apparently there is a security issue with a .DLL file that Microsoft is scrambling to fix.

Microsoft has been in touch with me, saying that I did not pay for Windows 360, so I have to prove I did. This may cost me $200. I go in tomorrow at 11 AM to see what can be done.

Smokin’ the Chimney!

We'll start today with Smokin’ the Chimney, the thrilling conclusion to stage 3 of the Ryedale 3 day event. As you might expect by now, there is drama from the outset, Team Apollinaris certainly don't have it all their own way! I've included a couple of my own photographs to give you some idea of the terrain that faced the youngsters and as is always the case, they don't do anything I wouldn't do myself.
