The Avon Lady #3

Avon Lady Marci offers to help David (aka Stacy) who became accidentally locked out of his house the first time that he went out in public dressed and made-up like a girl. His hair was perfect! --- (This amended story picks up where “Avon Lady #2” left off)

Cold

It was cold. The windows of the small cabin rimmed with frost and wisps of cold air intruding through any opportunist gaps in the defenses. The cast iron stove in the center of the small abode struggled against the encroaching chill as the last bits of furniture smoldered in its belly. It was a race, Mother Nature vs human ingenuity... and human was losing ground.

It was the coldest winter ever recorded, lasting a full month longer than any other winter thus far that was known of. Even the local stories didn't compare to this extent, of this winter.

All the work I post here is in its first draft format. I do this so that you can still read what I'm writing and so you have a reason to buy my books when they are edited and published, alongside supporting me as a person of course.

When I opened the front door I expected yelling but it didn’t come. Carol and Rick were sitting silently on the couch.

Queen of the Masquerade Ball Chapter 3

I didn’t get to Haley as she was quickly absorbed into a crowd of girls who looked like extras from a Black-Veil Brides video shoot. Not that I had an issue with goths, but at that moment the spell that I was under, the one that compelled me to get up and walk through the lunchroom. The one that made me think the ocean of students would part and it would just be the two of us, faded away and instead I found myself walking to the door that lead to the lunch line. I pretended that I was looking at the price of Cheetos as Haley was cloaked in a veil of black, red and purple hair.

Here Today, Tomorrow, Next Week Chapter 1

It was a perfectly fine day.
My espresso was perfection: overly sugared with whip cream along the top.
The coffee kept me level-headed—zen in a cup. Nirvana. A way to get my mind to not think about the forty-five minute drive it took to get to work from the suburbs. I had no issues getting from my apartment to the local Starbucks and then onto the “they call it an interstate highway, but it’s a parking lot”, just like Joni Mitchell said.

Melodies of the Heart: Jane and the Ghost Nurse

Hospital about a day or so ago. The girl had developed a nasty case of pneumonia that had gone under the guise of a really nasty common cold for several days, slowly withering away her heat till at last her mother had enough. The woman taking the bull by the horns, barged into Jane's room, and quickly bundled her up in a cocoon of colorful, woolen blankets. She then tossed her into the back of one of the many SUV's that belonged to the house. Once Jane was safely locked away, she then climbed into the drivers side of the SUV and made a light night, bat straight out of hell and ran to St.

The Everett’s

The Everett’s

This is not much of a TG story as it more about two people in love, and a little magic, as told by a grisly old timer while sitting around a camp fire, in his deep gravelly voice. Now pull up a log and let me tell you a little story about The Everett’s

What some people will do for love.

Cledus and Mabel live in a trailer park outside of Miller Landing off of HWY 45.

To Be a Different Someone Chapter 1

When I was a guy
There was a sorrow to my eyes... an echo of her reflection that prevailed so deep inside.

When I was a boy
I employed it as a ploy... amplifying the false perception, so, the truth, all could avoid.

While I was man,
She couldn't understand... the reason of her isolation and the shackles 'round her hands.

And so I broke her free
Now in the mirror I can see...the twinkle in her eyes, and the dimples at her cheeks as she smiles so sweetly towards me.

“Searching for John Louis” Chapter 3 “Hey You!”

Hey You!

I arrived in Birmingham, Alabama, a little after 11:30 PM and checked into a motel along the highway. The attendant was cold and bitter—almost hesitant to rent a room to me until I flashed one of several cards. I almost told him to just keep the card as I really didn’t care at that moment. He gave my card back to me along with a room key and I left the office.

On an otherwise unremarkable day in late April, several thousand people have their secret wishes and desires fulfilled. Some become heroes. Some become villains. Some become victims. Some become monsters.

One thing revealed by all this is that most people's secret wishes and desires are rather petty and mundane.

Ghost Stories And Urban Legends of Benton (6)

There seems to be a national trend right now in the nation to remove all monuments and statues that were put up to honor the memory of the short lived “Confederate States of America” while in this piece, I will not express my personal views on the matter. I will say this, removing them will not remove the ghost the “American Civil War” Created. My hometown of Benton, Mississippi a small township located in a bend of the Big Black River, like many small towns and villages in Mississippi has its own monument to honor the fallen sons of the south.

Chapter 89

For lunch they gave me real food and it was a good thing I was being fed or I might have made a pig of myself. The aide made sure I didn't eat too fast or take giant bites. I discovered I actually enjoyed my food more and felt filled before I had even finished my dessert. Dessert? What else, green jello.

Chapter 85

The problem with lying in bed doing nothing is it gives me too much time to think. To think about Christina, to think about my new job and to think about why Rick felt it necessary to try and nearly succeed in killing me.

“The Turn of a Friendly Card” Chapter 1 “Games People Play” (starter)

Games People Play
"He said he had to work," she stated with such adamancy you'd swear she was defending his life in a court of law. In a way, she was defending him...in the court of public opinion...or at least to opinion of her friend, that being me.
"I just saw him at Starbucks. He' s not at work." I replied with an equal amount of gusto--I didn't want to win the battle or the war, but Renee could be an idiot sometimes. You'd think our class salutatorian would have at least a pamphlet's worth of street smarts.
"You’re lying "

Chapter 81

"Hey, it's only a little blood. I've seen more when I cut myself shaving."

Nothing I said seemed to have any effect. She kept calling for help in between hugging me and telling me I'd be alright. She kept muttering to herself, "not again, not again," before calling out again.
