Arthur stood in line waiting–not very patiently.

His mother held his hand tightly as the queue inched forward–far too slowly for Arthur, who was fidgeting so much, it was as if he had Saint Vitus’ Dance or ants in his pants.

Looking for Christmas

Christmas was Jimmy’s least favorite holiday. Last Christmas, his parent’s had been killed in an auto accident, and this one wasn’t shaping up to be much better. His beloved grandfather was in the hospital, and Grandma Hazel had taken time to explain that Papa Max was very old, and it might be time to go home to heaven. Everyone else in class was happily getting ready for the school play, or decorating the class for the holiday season.

The icy wind and blowing snow cut through me as I trudged along the sidewalk on my way to my job as a salesclerk at 'Kringle's Department Store'. The job didn't pay a lot , but it kept a roof over my head and food in my tummy. I was also fortunate in that Kringle's was a friendly place to work for the LGBT community. The owner's daughter was among our sisterhood, having completed her transition 6 years before.Her name was Claire and she worked in the Accounting department.

Chapter One: Runaway!

Simon was getting worried, his twelve year old mind churning; the couple that had fostered him had locked him up in this bedroom three days ago. They only let him out to do chores around the house and hardly fed him. He sat on the bed in the room and he listened for the footfalls on the landing outside, this he was beginning to dread as his foster father had beaten him yesterday for dropping a plate the bruises still smarted. There came a knock on the door as Alison, the Rights youngest daughter, voice drifted through the wood.
