I had commented on a post by my friend Aurelia saying I couldnt even pretend to be normal, and this was her response:

Aurelia of course not, how does one pretend to do something, when they are that something.

Dorothy Bellion me, normal? um, I'm a trans girl, i think that kinda puts "normal" off the map, and then there's the rest of me ...

Aurelia Lol, you make me laugh hon put aside the gender stuff and you are a perfectly normal girl, You present yourself as a woman of appropriate age, well mannered and conservative, you continue to help raise your daughter and do what you can for the rest of your family. I see no abnormal at all, does any else.

Smart woman:)

You are not normal

Normal is a myth.

Writing is what you do when you put pen to paper, being an author is what you do when you bring words to life

Normal?

None of us are normal... to ourselves.

With All Your Reading....

I'm sure you know that normal also means perpendicular! The problem is: I don't know what that has to do with anything. I guess, if you are on your feet, standing up, you are normal to a plane parallel to the local surface of the earth.

Anyway, Dottie, I think you are cool and a good person; normal is overrated.

Normal?
What's Normal?
Normal is a myth?
Normal is everyone and no one.
Normal is an average of the most common.
Who wants to be common or average?
Normal is what others expect.
Be your self it's much more satisfying.
But what is common?
Being different is also "Normal",
for each individual is unique.
So Be Normal by being different, be your self.
So What IS Normal, being Abnormal is Normal.
Hell yes I am Normal,
because I am different then everyone else.
And so are you!
We are all normal, and each different.
So what are we all?
Normal!!!

Gee, I seem to have written a full drabble here.
(maybe I'll re-post it as such)
Huggles,
~Hypatia >i<..::

that's okay

You do not have to be able to pretend to be normal, just be okay with who you are.

My therapist has been trying to get that message through to me for over two years now. Yeah, some of it is sinking in, but it seems that once I get through part of it, there is another level to deal with.

I have had to accept that I will never be able to be able to pretend that I am stupid and do not know how to think. I know that sounds wrong, but it is as close to what I was aiming for and put in those words, I see how silly it is.

Maybe the bigger question I had to answer was why I wanted to be normal? For me, it boiled down to I wanted to be accepted for who I am, and that person was no where near what I was pretending to be. Now, I have only a handful of close friends, and many less acquaintances, but I am happier because it is okay to be me with them.

Best wishes to you on your journey,
Cassie Ellen

Normal is overrated.

It is useless to track what that means.

I mean, as an extreme example, would one have wanted to be a 'normal' German during WWII?

Kim

Of course you are not normal, Dorothy

Nobody is normal in the eyes of everyone, just as there is no average person.

Don't let it throw you, please.

It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

I tried to be normal...

It damn near killed me. I am not normal, I am me, as you are you. I'd rather live, and that took a major effort of will on my part. Lately I've been going out en-Femme on weekends, it does help.

At this point my opinion is what matters. The way I view it, to want me to stay the same is to wish me dead. That decision I've already made.

From John Lennon

All this conversation reminded me of this; modified slightly.

I am she as you are she as you are me
And we are all together.

from 'I Am The Walrus' from Magical Mystery Tour (album)

Another (slightly) known verse:

Sitting in an English garden waiting for the sun;
If the sun don't come
You get a tan from standing in the English rain.
I am the eggman, they are the eggmen,
I am the walrus, goo goo goo joob goo goo goo goo joob.

And on a lighter note; Today is my and Kim's Twentieth Anniversary!!!! (legal het marriage) (on paper) (yeah, they wish!)
