TERF's and The Bathrooms Debate

In the UK this weekend there has been some debate after an MP received death threats when her views on trans women were made public.
She does have history.

The idea of self identification is being hyped as any big hairy bearded guy can enter a female only "safe space" and say

"it's ok, I identify as female today!"

MTF Transgender Caused By Abusive Male

I do a lot of reading on Psychological matters and sometimes take College courses. The DSM can most certainly put one in a tail spin if we take it as Gospel. I've noticed that certain schools of thought preach that MTF folk have been abused by males. That could be the case with me because of my own stepfather, and it is very easy for me to hate males. Off setting that, I have met numbers of males who were very nice and caring. The other day on an elevator a man started talking to me and by the time I got off I was gasping.

Charlie Watts

I just heard that Charlie Watts, the drummer of The Rolling Stones, died.

I met him back in 1963, when The Stones were just getting started, and he was a lovely guy, the only one of them who wasn't either so far up himself or high on something, who gave a fan a little facetime and some conversation, without being in any way condescending.

Apart from that, he was one of those mostly unsung brilliant drummers who anchored the group for over fifty years. It makes me feel very sad and very much mortal to hear of his death as he was only a few months older than me.

Non-binary grave discovered in Finland from c 1000 AD.

A link to a Guardian story about someone they suspect was Klinefelters who was buried with grave goods of male and female, demonstrating they were respected by the community. My own thoughts as I read it were that the individual may well have been a shaman.

Another Olympiad over

and to be honest, I've not really been following the coverage but I do know that Team GB claimed the cycling crown with 6 golds out of the 22 on offer, 1 ahead of the Netherlands, the only other nation to win more than 1 event. Overall our tiny islands came in fourth behind the behemoths of the US and China with host nation Japan getting home advantage for third although with a smaller total medal count, the UK's 22 golds more than twice that of any other European nation. But as they say, Its not the winning but the taking part that counts - but winning is nice!

Interesting article about remembering consequences of biological sex.

The following link is to an article about someone's brother who was a transman and who died of ovarian cancer. The fact that the person interviewed is the deputy speaker of the House of Lords, shows that both transsexualism and tragedy know no social boundaries and a poignant reminder that even after SRS we often have reminders of our original biological sex which can cause problems and even kill as well as therapies for the new gender may increase some risks. Includes a piece by an oncologist who specialises in transgender patients.

There's a Place For Us, A Time And a Place For Us

Looking at the wardrobe in my closet, and reading this article, maybe it's time now, finally my time now?

And by the "us" in the title above, I'm referring to cisgendered straight boys who enjoy dressing in traditionally female garments but are afraid to do it in public.

Fictionmania's spat with firefox

That previous blog post has slid below the fold. So maybe it is time to ask for a refresher?
Fictionmaia still does not seem to like Firefox any more. Does anyone know if this is the new normal and I just need to accept it? Or is there any activity on the Fictionmania community that is considering the topic?

As always, Lazy TV viewers want to know.
