Thanks to a story by Bailey Summers, I've been thinking about my dad. As most of you know, He committed suicide when I was 5 years old. They call it "depression" but somehow, it just doesnt seem to cover this total inability to see himself as a person of worth. He lived his last few years as if all the blessings in his life were stolen property that would be taken from him as soon as he was caught with them ....

I know this struggle in myself far too well. Too many days have started or ended with me feeling like I was getting an "F" in life .....

But thank God, I have resources to help me fight this feeling. Amazing loving friends, a fantastic family (not all of them related to me by blood), and a faith in a God who, as was famously said, "Dont make no junk!"

If you struggle with depression, take it from me, you should get help, and make a list of things you can be thankful for to read when the "black dog" has you in its jaws.

Dont let depression win, folks.

You can get through this honey:)

You're more than strong enough to get through this and still have more in the tank to be the amazing woman you've always been inside.

Remember what Winston Churchill said...

Ole Ulfson's picture

"Never give in. Never give in. Never, never, never, never, never give in!"

And that having been said, I thought about giving in for the first time in my life just this January. But after 3 weeks of wrestling with myself and my God, and with the support of my friends and family here, I decided to put it off for another 60+ years.

I hope you'll do the same: We all need you here!!!

We are each exactly as God made us. God does not make mistakes!

Gender rights are the new civil rights!

Speaking of Winston Churchill…

The great wartime Prime Minister of the United Kingdom named his depression his "Black Dog." The Hon. Winston Churchill is now believed to have been bipolar (manic-depressive in his own day). More than a few historians have speculated that his mental illness may have saved the Realm & even Europe. A "saner" Prime Minister might have yielded to the demonstrated power of Nazi Germany.

Sometimes, the Black Dog is a good & faithful watchdog.

Peace & healing to you, Dorothy! You're in brave & noble company.

Clinically proven ways to fight depression

I just got in off a three hour ride, and feel much better.

I know it is a bit snowy where you are but maybe you can find a gym and shoot some hoops or excercise?

Hot baths help too. Scented candles would be my favorite but I'm alergic to almost all of them.

Just sayin.
