fighting depression

The worst thing about having depression is that it tends to sap your energy, making it harder to do the kind of things that would relieve it. Like right now all I want to do is curl up on my bed with my dog and cry and feel sorry for myself about my computer, even though that would probably be the worst thing I could do.

I'll keep fighting the good fight, but its times like these that make me wish more of "team Dorothy" lived close enough to come give me a real life hug.

Ah, well.

TO DARN FAR FOR ME TO DRIVE BUT HERE COMES YOUR "SPECIAL" & Heartfelt HUGS

her power

the power supply on computer died i am trying to get her to get a new one and ill tell her how to replace it.

Power supplies

I have become quite expert at replacing those. They look like it would be a complicated problem only because of the number of cables you have to deal with.

As for Depression, I know exactly how you feel Dot and I give you a big Hug from me.

Believe me, I am sympathetic.

But you won't get sympathy from me. I used to feed on the sympathy of others, but over the years, after lots of teaching of Dialectical Behavior Therapy, I learned that there are things we can do to combat those down times.

You and I have had this conversation before, so I would just like to remind you that there are good, self help books out there that will teach you the same principles. One thing I do is called Oposite Action, and that means going for a walk, eating Ice Cream, taking a warm bath with scented candles, brushing my hair, and I can tell from your pictures that you have lots more hair than I do. Still, I enjoy making all dozen hairs that I do have look pretty, at least to me.

The best I can do is to buy you a book at Amazon and send it to you. If I remember correctly, you are in Alberta, and just looking on the internet, it indicates that there is a program there for Canadian Citizens. http://www.albertahealthservices.ca/services.asp?pid=service...

One other step that you could consider taking is to start attending an LDS church. Admittedly that is a bridge too far for many people. Some believe outrageous and hurtful things about my faith, and do not want to know the truth. Sometimes people are worse to me than when I was Muslim.

There, I provided you with two productive things you can do to stop your depression. I do hope that you use one of them.

Much peace

Depression does suck...

Well, I'm in Canada, but not close enough to make a hug run, or I would. I'd even stop in at Timmy's on the way and get you something.

But I know exactly what you mean about depression sapping your energy and motivation to resist it or do anything useful. Do the best you can, Dot. Hope you can get the computer working again. Probably some stupid part that died. Or failing that, hope you can get a good deal on a new one.

*big hugs*
