Bob has some arcade games at Stardust now. These are simple flash type games that are great for disengaging the thinking gears a while so your inner mind can work on a story problem while your outer mind is busy. :)
It's almost too late in the season here but some of the heirloom varieties ripen late. These are really good and so simple.
Clean and slice several green tomatoes, about 1/3 inch (8 mm) thick, more or less. Salt and pepper them liberally and leave on a cutting board to dry out very slightly while you get everything else ready.
While going through a pile of condolences I received after my mother died in January 2008, I discovered an envelope that had an order for six ebooks and a money order for the cost plus an anount for postage.
This is multiply sad because these are ebooks, I can't mail them. And no email address was included so I can't provide them through email, either, nor was the name given traceable through BCs membership list.
Charlene, if you're still out there, I can give you a hatbox membership so you can download these items, please contact me via email or PM.
The challenge ends September 21, 2009, but of course, you can write more such stories after and tag them with the Back-to-School category, they just won't be eligible for the non-existent prizes in this non-contest. :)
Since I travel around and carry my laptop, I've come up with various strategies to keep my data synced on as many as five different computers with two different operating systems.
Author Pages, marked so under the Publication menu, are for organizational pages, only, not for content like stories, blogs, poems or character or story notes. Please, if you have marked ANY of your stories as Author Pages, go back and change them to Fiction or whatever is appropriate. Thanks.
The last day at the Con I was struck by an incredible lack in the world of a specific thing that I knew I could do. I spent most of the last day collecting info and opinions about this idea and most of the drive back thinking about it.
I'm going to be the San Diego ComiCon and in San Diego generally from Wednesday through Sunday. I'll have my laptop with me wo I won't be out of touch but I won't be sitting in front of it doing other stuff and checking on the site every half hour like I do when I'm home.
I finally fixed the Girlery set of cartoons, the ones that got their links broken in the upgrade from shoeboxen to 99shoes. Took me two hours so I hope somebody enjoys. :)
My little dog and I were playing on the front porch, me throwing her favorite toy and her chasing it. At the far end of the porch, she tried to grab the toy, stop and turn around all at the same time and I think she hurt herself.
You have until June 9, to vote for your favorite May Day story. You can vote for as many stories as you like but you should vote only once per story. The story that has the most votes at midnight, server time, on June 9 will be announced the winner on June 10th.
How many people base stories on dreams they've had? I had an odd one last night, got up this morning and wrote it up. I've done very little to make it make more sense but it's posted over on http://Fictioneer.org.
Well, at least this time they are getting me out a dental appointment. Ax murderers behind the eyes and oozing body fluids at both ends are not a good time to go to the dentist, not to mention the choking and gagging fits. I'm going to take some pain pills and take a nap and maybe call to see my regular doctor this afternoon.
I'll be here, I'm just not firing on all cylinders.
Since there are so many comments I'll leave this message in place. As of about 3:30 PM EDT the power has been restored and all of the critical servers are back in operation. One of the general use systems that runs my lightning detection system is having problems but it isn't as critical as the other servers were.

Bob tells me that power is out due to lines brought down by winds in his area of central New York. May be back up today but more winds and storms expected, so it could be a while. Bob will remove this notice when the power comes back up. He's fine.
Pretty sick this evening with hayfever and what feels like an incipient sinus infection. Let's hope it's just hayfever. I've got finals this week and next starting Thursday, but they're playing four of my pieces in the composer's recital at college. I hope I'm not too sick to go.
In the future, I'd like to request that people who want to violate the rules of posting here, or annoy others for such transgressions, or anything that does not contribute to the peace and tranquility of what is essentially a library -- I'd like to request that all such disturbances, disagreements and denunciations take place while I'm here at my desk and not in bed, at dinner or in the bathroom.
If anyone sent emails, including ones with stories attached, any time during the last two or three months, please send them again. My email save file got corrupted and I've lost a bunch of emails and no way of knowing which ones I lost because I don't have them to count them.
I hate this sort of thing. My redundant backup turns out to be incomplete so that was no save.
Please, if you sent anything important to [email protected] in the last 90 days or so, send it again.
Checks can be made out & sent to:
