Hope's Ranch: Year one

The sign on the street says just three words Hope's Ranch Academy but there is more than learning on the ranch. A mixing of people, in need of something they didn't, or couldn't get any where else. The symbol of refuge for those still outcast by society in large.

If they had been thinking about it, a copy of of the same lines from the sonnet "The New Colossus" would grace the sign as well, the same words that rest on the Statue of Liberty.

I am still alive

Yes, I am still in the land of the living, but work has me jumping. I am working on both Through the years and Hope's Ranch. I know I've been horrible about updates, but I have been trying to build a buffer or stuff that is ready first.

Hopefully things will get better and I can dedicate time to writing.

looking for a story

I am looking for a story. In it there is a boh who is staying someplace else, as his parents are out of country. While at the other place. The son there picks on him so he goes to ride his bike and is hit and pinned under the car. He loses his male parts and a nurse keeps putting makeup on him in the hospital. Any ideas?

well I'm still here

I thought I'd leave a blog stating I am still around. Haven't written anything much over the past two months. Been busy with work. Also hit a roadblock with through the years and my days off have been busy too.

I will attempt to post something soon. I've been using my phone to use Google drive, so I write, when I can, at work.

Of Snow, little girls and Angels: One year later

A look back into the life of Little Lisa, and her new parents, The Reeds.

This is a one shot story, checking in on the events that followed the story Of Snow, little Girls and Angels

While not filled with violence, the Caution is there for the mention of it.

Please note, this was put out before an edit, so I could post something for Christmas. This will be edited later for punctuation and spelling.

I am posting something today

Well, I am still around. I am now working the pets department as a stocker, so when I go home, I am beat and I wanted to put this out a few days ago, but I was so tired. Now that Christmas will be over in a few hours, I have decided to get some things out. The first will be a check up on Lisa from my story Of Snow, little girls and Angels.

I am working on Tracy stuff and I know, people were not into the Halloween stuff, but I will show how things got that bad.

Tempted to put out a Tracy Christmas thing, but it may not be done until tomorrow or the next day.

Still here

I am still around, I've just been busy. At work we've lost all of the new people (4 in a month, 2 of them in just one week)and one older person. So I am working Sundays stocking the pets department. I have also been getting a ton of overtime, thankfully I can get my bills under control now. I hope that it all evens out after Christmas, but for the next few weeks, my schedule will change weekly.

I shall resume Tracy and Hope soon.

This is kind of a one shot Tracy story, but will fit in when I reach October 31st of 1983. I have added some new people, and yes, Tracy will meet them in the coming chapters of Through the years. I have done my best to keep spoilers out, but this post focuses on her feelings in October.

The story of a ranch in the hills of Northern California. A working ranch and school that serves as a safe haven for kids who identify as LGBTIQ and even some others who are in need of protection. More than that, it is a story of forgiveness, love and redemption.

looking for yet another story

I don't recall much, other than the main character is able to switch from male to female, works in a store as a piano player and is the witness to a crime and the criminal is looking for the male side, but is hitting on the female side. Any ideas?

And it was on this site, I do believe, but I could be wrong

Had a strange day yesterday

So as you may remember, I got a new job at the end of July and started on the 30th of that month. Well about 2 weeks ago, they told us that we had to do an orientation thing, where they could tell us all about our job, show us where everything is and stuff like that. Like I haven't learned where all the stuff I need is at after a month there.

Through the years: Trials and tribulations of a preteen girl Part 12

Sage was already outside and waiting for Brooke and Rachel to join her for the recess. As the two of them came over, they went to a side part of the playground, near the classes, but near one of the basketball courts. As they watched the boys play, Sage saw Yvette coming over to them and she warned Brooke and Rachel.

“Hey, like, um.....” Yvette sighed and she dropped the Valley-speak. It had been just a day or so since she talked to her cousin. She had wanted to take Heather and apologize together, But today Heather was sick, due to nerves of possibly being attacked, so that gave Yvette a chance to speak freely to people. “Can I ask you all a question? Please?”

At the word please, Rachel and Brooke's jaws dropped and Sage just blinked a couple of times. When they didn't respond, she asked again. “Please, can I ask a question? I know I've been...well, I've been a jerk, and I really am sorry about it, but I want to know something.”

looking for a story

I never got to reading it, but I wanted to. The only thing I know of on the story is it was on this site and had a picture of a little girl in a field of flowers, arms stretched out and her back slightly arched. if I recall right, there were several chapters, but I can't recall the name

Well, I go in tonight

My background check came back all clear so I had to do some paper work this after noon. Tonight, I get to go in and work on the computer, doing tests on safety, harassment and other issues and maybe get a crash course in the store. So wish me luck. I have been up since 6 am and may be up till 6 am when I get home.

So as a yay go me, I am posting a new chapter to Through the years.

“Vance, are you mad that you came down here?” Tracy asked.

He shook his head. Than he whispered. “Not really. I mean since Bruce stopped hanging out with me, I was bored. Jerry was there on the weekends, but other than that, I had no one. So coming down here, I can change that.”

“I miss Mary Beth and Emily May, plus Peter, but I think this is better.” She whispered. “More things to do.”

“A school that doesn’t know either of us.” Vance said in a whisper.

two down, one to go

Well I had interview #2 yesterday. And while talking to the nice lady, I learned that I wasn't the only one that guy forgot to set up appointments for. Heck, he even sent people who were there for an interview home, so they had to return last night. I think it went well and they sent my app onto store manager, so now the waiting game for her to call me.

Keep those fingers crossed

now that was embarrassing

As some of you know, I have been looking for work and may have found a job that can work with me and how I really hate dealing with people face to face. I have applied for 3rd shift (or graveyard for you West coast people) GM (general merchandise) stocking at a Meijers near the house. For those who don't know, Meijers is a Michigan based company, like Walmart, but nicer to their employees, or so former workers have said.

RE: Ragtime Rachel

This past week, there was a message Rachel not being heard from in a While. I had actually asked Sephrena about her because I had heard nothing in some time and noticed she had not commented on stuff since January.

Well, I send a message to Rachel and got a response and she is still here. Now to hear back from Trapper

About the Through the years

I am still alive, but I have been busy. I have been searching for a job and not finding anything. I also don't own a car, so I walk everywhere. So when I get home I am tired and don't write. I also am running out of money, so my stress is starting to rise.

I will try and get something Tracy related out soon, but no promises. I have a lot of stuff half done, but currently going back over and changing stuff and also dealing with the thoughts that it may just be too weird.

Like the title says, its been two years since I first joined. I don't recall my first comment, but I came to this site through the stories "shoes" and the ones that followed it. I was going to try and have a bunch ready and post daily this week, but looking for work has cut into writing time. But I should have something later today or tomorrow
Thanks to everyone for keeping this site going and making people like me get our stories out there

Olivia jogged over and hugged Maggie as she stopped. “Hey, glad you made it.”

“Me too.” Maggie said. “And Joy? She's coming?”

“She is here with Angie. They’re inside the grounds already. They are with friends of mine.” Olivia turned and hugged Tracy. “Hello young lady. It's good to see you out in public like this.” She whispered into the girl’s ear.

“Thanks.” Tracy said, hugging her back.

“Tracy, I know you're scared, but the sooner they know, the better. Your Grandmother will be there and she is dying to tell them. Your aunt could know already but Shelly and I agree that this is for the best. Plus, we’ve gotten a hold of Joy and Angie and while we’re at Brooke’s race, we’re gonna meet up with them. So when we’re at Alice’s, if you want to go, or she treats you bad, then we go. That instant. No waiting, just leaving.”

“Promise?” Tracy asked her, not totally believing her.

“Promise.” Maggie replied.

At about six o’clock, a car pulled into the drive and Tracy ran to the window, just to see who it was. Once she saw her father get out of his car, a smile on his lips, she raced for the door. She flung it open and jumped out, leaping into William’s arms. “Daddy!!!”

“Hello, Princess.” He pulled her in close and kissed her cheek. “How have you been?”

“Good. I’ve missed you, though.” She said, then she added. “Missed you a lot.”

“A lot? Its only been four days.” He said with a grin, while he let go of her and started to go into the house.

“True, but I still miss you.”

“Walk me to the car?” William asked his daughter and she held his hand as they walked to the back parking lot. He put his bag into the back seat and turned to face her. “Now you be a good girl and I'll see you in two weeks.”

“So much for five months, huh?” Tracy said with a smile.

“I like this plan better.” William stated. He turned and pulled his daughter into a hug. “This way I don't miss out on five months of my baby's life.”

Tracy blushed at being called a baby. “Daddy, I'm not a baby.” She whined, but she couldn't be angry.

A military question for people who recall the 80's

I am back and working on some ideas for Through the years and I was wondering a simple question. Does anyone recall the cut off age that someone had to be under to join the military in 1983-1984? Would be the reserves, but I just wondered what the age is. I know it is 42 now, but not sure about 30 years ago. Also would they take someone after that age if they had been in service just a decade earlier, even if they are over the age limit by say a year?

Back home again

Made it home, safe and sound. For those who was going to travel across the USA and go from either Emeryville to Chicago, or Chicago to Emeryville, I recommend Amtrak. I learned many things, like Ottumwa, Iowa is a real town. I always thought it was made up for MASH. Boy was I wrong.

The trip had one bad note, I left my phone in my dad's van and realized it as he go on the highway, so he has to mail it to me now. But other then that, I am home and time to go to bed and relax.

what an emotional two weeks

So I am about to leave California and the past two weeks have been hard. I actually found out from an aunt something that I had suspected for a few years, after hearing my mom talk to someone when she thought I was out of the house. I may have a sibling, other then my brother and sister who died at 3 days old. I guess mom got pregnant before she was 18 and the baby went to adoption. So now comes the fun of looking for a sibling.

Had the viewing today and that was hard. I have taken the keys from Dad and I am driving for him. The funeral is tomorrow. The train right was good and looking at setting the departure date. Was hard to hear my father, who has been so strong all my life, break down at the viewing.

Tomorrow I am going to be help as best as possible, so pray for the family, and thank you.

my trip

So I thought I would have some enjoyment in this sad trip and relate my travels. Got on the train and all was well, till we stopped in Battle Creek Michigan and they had to call the fire department for an electrical fire in one of the cars. Almost an hour later we left. Got to one station and they missed it by a block or two. Had to back up to get people.almost to Chicago and with the fact we are late, it shortens my wait in union station, that is good.
