la, la, la!

Okay, i'll desist - for now.

So no sooner had i told you all where i was spending Christmas and everything changed! The Covid re-entry regulations to the UK changed on Tuesday and what with one thing and another, the holiday company cancelled the trip, result, i'm not leaving the country any time soon. Instead of Germany we were offered several UK destinations so, unless things change again, i will still be catching a ferry but only as far as the Isle of Wight. For two bits i'd have stayed at home but i'm going with my father which is very pertinent to the decision.

The specialists haven't given a timetable yet but on Friday they confirmed that pater has cancer, no doubt a 40 year+ nicotine habit hasn't helped with that, he's not currently ill as such but the chances of seeing 92 are probably not high and so this may be his last Christmas. Germany would have been a better trip but i guess we'll have to make the most of what we can do. I hope you'll forgive me for being a bit distracted atm, life seems to be launching a whole innings of curve balls at me lately and whilst the utge to write is strong, the mental state to do so just doesn't want to lock in place.

My hope to reach 10k miles on the bike this year has also taken a significant hit - with 11 potential riding days left i would need to do 100 km on each of them to hit the target - possible but realistically not likely. The campaign isn't being helped by Storm Barra and its aftermath, I missed any riding yesterday due to the wind and rain and the next few days see more dodgy weather that will affect where and how far i'm prepared to go. I have been out on Monday and today, two shorter rides which just about hold the status quo but haven't improved the numbers any, tommorrow looks like a similar shorter ride so it will be Friday before i get in a half decent distance!

I still haven't found the tidbit i was hoping to post today - on the plus side i should be able to post stuff over the holiday so i'll continue searching the archives - there will be more Ontario on Sunday.

Good luck with whatever you do Maddy. Christmas always reminds us of those we have lost. Give your dad the best Christmas you can.
