It might surprise some people who know me as having focus issues - ie: "Squirrel" every few seconds, but on a few occasions I have actually been able to enter a state of hyperfocus.

Now, its possible I'm wrong, but I think this state is a combination of being in manic mode while also wanting to disassociate due to PTSD triggers.

Since while I'm in manic mode, everything is dialed up to 11, it makes sense that if I felt a need to get away from bad thoughts, that one of the ways that could happen would be to hyperfocus on something else, rather than jump from topic to topic, which might end up with me back in bad vibes territory.

I am not sure how knowing this might help me, but I might as well add it to what I'm learning about my brain, it might come in handy at some point

Just another natural state of our human minds

I think you are fortunate to be experiencing https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flow_(psychology)

If you happen to notice you are in Flow - don't stop. Keep on doing what you're doing. (Unless, of course, something is bleeding, screaming or on fire ...)

Savor the wonder & the memory of it later.

(If the link drops you on a Wiki 'disambiguation' page, click the 'psychology' link.)

For you, yeah, maybe it's a defense thingy.

"I'll do this now. I have the >option< to feel cruddy later."
