i don't know why i say goodbye.....

Well certainly not at this end of the blog!

The week is, well it is. Monday i spent mostly crafting another chapter of the latest Gaby book - the words flowed nicely and i was able to post the results for my Patreon patrons on Monday evening. Today, by comparison was terrible on the writing front, i have the plot but things weren't flowing at all so i got about a third of the way through the chapter and called a halt - hopefully a fresh start tomorrow or Friday will reignite the flames.

Of course, yesterday was bike day, i set off under overcast skies expecting to do a shortish 50-60 kilometres but as is often the way, i then got a bit carried away and ended up banking 100 of those distance units! Over 10% of that was on 'virgin' roads but its getting more difficult to find new tarmac (or indeed mud) to add to the total roads without travelling ever further out from base. But it gives me a purpose on my rides, finding that elusive lane, exploring that no through road.

Apart from the failed writing today i did accomplish other stuff, laundry - check, walk - check, okay so the walk was to Swedenland which killed two birds with one walk. A cheap lunch obviously but i had a shopping list too, some boxes for sorting 'stuff' and some baking equipment - a long time ago i used to enjoy baking but for a loooong time i've not had access to a suitable oven so if i wanted cake i had to buy ready made. But Aunty Bev does have an oven so i thought i'd rekindle my confectioners skills so today was time to buy the equipment i was missing, cake tin, icing bag etc, etc. I'll see exactly how rusty i am at the weekend before tackling a nice birthday cake the following week! i'll probably do a loaf at the same time, i have the mekkins of a nice rye in the cupboard.

So there we are, i'll be back with more news at the weekend as well as the next chapter of Fame.

Now I say goodbye,
Madeline Anafrid

Guess That's Two Straight Titles...

...that have led me astray. My UK record charts book is AWOL right now, so I don't know whether a song by that title ever made it across the Atlantic. But "Hello, Hello" by the Sopwith 'Camel', a band from here in San Francisco, reached the U.S. top 30 in 1967 and included the immortal line "Would you like some of my tangerine?/You know I'll never treat you mean."

Eric

for those of us who used to listen

to Pirate Radio and the like from under our bedclothes, the name 'Sopwith Camel' does ring a bell as still had an Airfix model of one in my bedroom. Sadly the cat decided that it was a plaything before '69 and I got rid of them all.
If anyone was to play it here, that someone would be the late John Peel. He started playing obscure US Imports long before beardy Branson started selling them in London.

Of course, S-C should not be confused with 'Camel'. Camel were one of the bands to come from the Canterbury area. They were well into Prog Rock with their take on the 'Snow Goose' which I still listen to on a regular basis (playlist permitting).

It's quite obvious - well I think so. You got the right decade but wrong continent, think think Scouse invertebrates, not sure which album but i'm thinking one without colour.

It Was, After You Continued...

That's why I started my comment by saying you'd led me astray (g). I do know the Beatles' "Hello Goodbye". (Never saw the film version of "Magical Mystery Tour", but I do have the U.S. release of the album.)

Cake.

I like cake!
