Beastly weather

an icy wind but I think all the snow got snaffled up further east!

Well I've had a funny conclusion to the first week of February, things haven't been going exactly as planned at all. Thursday was gonna be a writing day but I hardly got anything done, instead I found myself heading out to buy corn plasters. Yep, I've developed a collection between two toes that are causing quite a lot of discomfort when I wear anything other than my Birkenstockalikes or bike shoes. In normal times I'd have been to my chiropodist chappy toot sweet but these aren't normal times, so I'm trying to sort them myself and I'm not having much success.

Then on Friday I set off for a ride, not exactly feeling up for it, it was like riding on a low battery, not exactly helped by a route that became hillier than I expected too. I did have a pleasant sandwich stop at Nunney Castle in the sunshine before the damp came through as I tackled the ups and ups that comprise the eastern end of the Mendips. The power was so low that I ended up walking on one particularly steep ramp, I could've ridden but I was faster on foot, I got back, tired and the 103km had 1250m of up stuffed into them.

Writing on Saturday? Well a bit more than Thursday but not enough and so to today, I eschewed riding, 1) it was a flippin' cold wind and 2) I just didn't have any beans or enthusiasm. Instead I went for what was supposed to be a longer walk out to the north eastern fringes of civilisation hereabouts but after a buying some knickers in Sainsbury's I cheated and caught a bus back, my poorly foot dictating the change of plans.

On a more positive note, I cooked us a Sunday 'roast', lamb, roasties, four veg and served up in a large Yorkshire pud - well it is World Yorkshire Pudding Day after all! I've cooked a Rhubarb and Strawberry crumble too - we'll have some of that for supper - no one could move after the dinner!

We look set for more icy cold, windy weather for a the next few days, hopefully my muse will appreciate the last couple of days downtime so I can crack on, I hope to have the next, already half written volume out next weekend.

Well that rounds things up for today,

sorry to hear about your feet

they can be a pain at times. :)
This is perfect weather for staying in, keeping warm, writing lots and to hell with exercise for the time being.
Perhaps the corns are your body telling you that 'can we stop being silly for a bit?' (or words to that effect.
