Sick of Public Disobedience

So, I looked around on some of my sources. It was surprising to find out that there are Demonstrations going on there, and someone has been shot. There had been some big fires in Colorado, the largest about 20 miles West of Denver in Grand County. I hope that people have been paying attention to evacuation orders.

I've been getting sick of Demonstrations in Portland, where I live, but it's bad in many places. Perhaps going to Sweden would be better?

Pride Parades

Are you also sick of Pride parades?

Would things be better for us if Stonewall had not happened?

Maybe those who tossed the tea in the harbor should have been better mannered?

Part of democracy is the acceptance of peaceful demonstration. Riots and the destruction of property are never acceptable.

I live in St. Paul. In the aftermath of the George Floyd riots we have found that much of the arson and over the top behavior was done by members of white supremacist gangs who were hoping to create a huge racial backlash.

The other night when our president wrongly accused BLM of chanting horrific anti-police slogans he was doing the work of the white supremacist groups. He's made this claim several times and has been widely corrected. Why he continues to slander BLM isn't a mystery at this point.

Ask yourself if the president is helping end the demonstrations in Portland when he blatantly lies about the BLM movement.

There is a reason that "speech" is the first amendment.

I understand your fatigue. I get very tired of in-your-face politics. But on the other hand -- I have a lawn sign that supports a number of current issues. I have another sign that supports Biden. Those signs have been up for several months and have NOT been disturbed.

I'm pleased to be in that country.

Both Jo and I are very safe at the moment. We've had a snow last night which I hope will contribute to calming down the fire. We are not in immediate danger . We are about a 100 miles South East of the nearest evacuation area. Ariel has been in touch with Catherine by Skype and now Catherine knows that Ariel is okay as well.

I think twenty miles outside of Denver would mean that Littleton was in the midst of the conflagration. Golden would have been completely consumed, so there but for the grace of god goes the best Nepali restaurant this side of the Himalayas.

I'm alright. My uncle was evacuated, so he's staying with my aunt Janice who was just allowed back from her evacuation. And my Aunt Linda is busy in her restaurant making meals non-stop for the firefighters on a broken leg.

As a bonus, it looks like the snow saved Estes, which means I can still go up there and fantasize about buying a triceratops skull. (I'd make a plaster cast and mount it to the hood of my car.)
