until 2025!

Yep, its a whole week since we said goodbye to 2023, a whole 1/3000th or thereabouts of my life.

So what have i been up to since last i posted? Well on Thursday i took my 'new' steed out for a short ride down to Aquae Sulis, a leg stretch and a comparative ride. Several things were revealed, firstly, there's a lot of flooding along the Avon valley and secondly, the Ebike is quicker than me not E. I guess both were pretty much expected but just how much faster is the Ebike on pretty much the same ride? Well on this 'test' it was @ 2kmh faster, not as much as i anticipated, the effect will i think be more obvious on longer trips - an excuse to experiment more!

Friday i joined Aunty Bev for a trip almost to the south coast to see Angharad, we exchanged some goss, consumed some tea and ate a massive roast lamb dinner. It was a luvverly day despite the long journey on rural roads and lanes to get there and back.

And so to Saturday, i need to get back into the riding habit so i set off for a longer trip on the Ebike to get a grip on the potential range, i picked a fairly typical rolling Cotswold route out to Tetbury and back, somewhere in the region of 85km. I could tell you exactly except in a blonde moment i snoozed the GPS accidently somewhere around 60km! Anyhow, i got some useful data, a full to dead main battery will manage maybe 100km if i keep it in eco mode and avoid steep climbs, with the backup battery it may be possible to make the kilometres miles. Anyway, it was a nice ride even if i did have to ford a couple of flooded lanes on the way around.

Today then - well i haven't really done a lot, arsed about a bit, a short walk and of course, posted a new Gaby chapter for your entertainment, Punta de Teno is chapter 19 of On The Edge.

I'll be sorting out the complete book 28 this week - more news on that later in the week. There will be more riding of course and i hope to get started on the next writing project, a cycling tome entitled Gran Fondo. It will be a collection of tales of day rides i've done in the last year, the title coming from the semi competitive Gran Fondo event format of a 100km/60 mile ride, its a sort of celebration of my 60th year, 60 sixty mile rides.

Well i guess that's about it for today, i'll be back with more mid week but for now,
Tschuss,
Madeline Anafrid
