I wonder if he wishes he had chosen a different stage name. I never took him seriously when I first saw him.
It is only when I saw him play Ray Charles, that I realized I was totally wrong about him.

I wasn't a big fan of his, When I saw the movie "Ray" I was totally impressed with Jamie Fox, even when he was in Stealth he did fine. I was utterly taken aback when he called Obama our savior. I think celebrities need to stay out of politics. I liked Jamie Foxx but now I prefer to not hear him or see him.

Is fighting some kind of battle.
You don't so why should they?
If you can't separate a person that entertains you and their political views that's your own loss. They shouldn't have to curb their own opinions to suit those that enjoy their occasional performance.
Personally, I'd rather know what the person I'm giving business thinks. If they're secretly a right wing discriminatory nut then I'd like to know so I can avoid giving them money.
