Why does the future have to be so ugly?

If this is the future of fashion, I want to go back to the '50s future of fashion.

I was looking for an audience rating of Extremely Scary.

And then they wonder why guys

And then they wonder why guys don't give a shit about fashion :D With those kind of prospects I keep my boring stuff. Seriously, what was this mini dress thing the last one was wearing? *shudder*

Is it that much worse than...

...Silk hose, lace shirts, corsets, wigs, earrings, gold bracelets, skirts, dresses and other articles of clothing now associated with women that were in the past and are now worn by kings, warlords, priests around the globe?
Most of currently known cosmetics, BTW, was also designed to be worn by men and not by women.

:-)

QOTD.....

Okay. The Question Of The Day is, what the hell was that designer smoking??????? Someone needs to tell him that crystal meth and fashion do not mix.

Jessica Marie

I am fashion ... disabled(?) and even *I* know those outfits...

were WRONG!!!

Hell, you could dress a guy with blaze orange suspenders holding up green corduroy high water pants, 70's MOD boots, a yellow and brown plaid *used car salesman* shirt and a pink beret and he wouldn't look as idiotic as those poor fashion victims!

John in Wauwatosa

Mind you I HAVE considered bib overall shorts -- is that a bricklayer's suit? -- and NOTHING else -- IE commando style -- as a outfit for my Joanie. But then SHE has the figure to pull it off . Hell a potato sack would be smokn' hot on her. Imagine one of those mesh onion sacks. Bubble wrap! !!! Oooooooh!

But THOSE outfits.
I pray this was an avant-garde fashion house. The sort of place that Lady Gaga shops at for her stage costumes?

Sounds like Dr. Detroit's

I'll get a life when it's proven and substantiated to be better than what I'm currently experiencing.

I guess ...

... the broken shed nailed to the face is quite a good style for someone who looks like me but I'd worry about running into something due to only being able to see out of one eye. I just hope no-one's wearing it and sitting in front of me in the cinema - I wouldn't see much either ;)

I sit here dressed in a pair of thermal lined cargo-style trousers bought mail-order for £30 for two pairs (they advertise in the Guardian) and a thermal long-sleeved vest under a wool sweater bought from a charity shop, so who am I to criticise fashion? I'm wearing more or less the same type of clothes I've been wearing for 30 years and have no intention of changing. I gave up wearing ties when I was involved in designing multi-head industrial knitting machines in the 1970s - getting one caught in the mechanism wasn't something to be contemplated lightly. I used to keep one in my desk drawer at work in case I had to go to lunch with a rep, but that was it. When I retired I donated it to a colleague ... it was my 25 years service tie :)

One thing really does puzzle me above all ... how do those guys resist bursting into hysterical laughter?

Robi

Jherico

Speaking of sartorial torture/weaponry, Jherico could get some good ideas from that fashion show.

guy clothing is scary

I have always avoided guys clothing. very scary like suites ties ect.. shaved head with paints to knees.. Guys need to go back to the skirts and tights of sidhee stores legends ect... Jeans are over rated...

I can't say it enough.
OMG!

So men can wear dress in the future but they have to be ugly?

OMG!!!

and the makeup & the hair
OMG! ROFL!

I was sort of hoping we'd go back.

I think we need to go back to the 1830's and ditch all the playtex bras, zippers and True Religion Jeans. I've been wearing a lot of floor length very full dresses, and it is like so totally fun! Fashion should be fun, right?

watch out for wood chips

Nothing wrong with a good skirt but I chop wood for heat and even jeans don't alway keep my legs from getting bruised by flying wood.

Good god, I hope those models

Good god, I hope those models got paid! A lot. Laughing smiles, Jenn.

I wear this crown of thorns
Upon my liar's chair
Full of broken thoughts
I cannot repair

Ill fitting...

...the models remind me of what Ken looked like when I dressed him in Barbie's clothes.

I've always wondered what my

I've always wondered what my sisters thought when they found Ken wearing Barbies clothes, but have never had the guts to ask.

Then again...

...most women probably wouldn't touch anything showed at the fashion shows targeted at them with a bargepole (well, unless they happen to be a certain pop star who's made a habit of wearing unusual items of clothing). It increasingly seems as though the "collections" shown at these events are more wearable art than items designed to be worn in any other context.

As the right side of the brain controls the left side of the body, then only left-handers are in their right mind!

Hardly surprising.

With all spending cuts that the government is making, they must have disbanded the fashion police.

what are they thinking

I assume these people know what they are doing, they do, after all, actually design and sell clothes. The NY Times has a story today about mens clothes http://www.nytimes.com/slideshow/2013/01/17/fashion/20130117.... Is the NY Times story about the same show? In any event, I still wonder who these shows are for. Who wears this stuff? The few men I have known who would have the money for expensive clothes were very conservative in their appearance.

Maybe if I lived in a major city this would all make sense to me.
