Why do I keep having to re log-in all the time, it wasn't this way before. I was replying to an email when I got caught in the three AM reset and lost my reply. Okay, that was my fault, I screwed up. I left the reply screen up on this computer and went to bed. This morning I used my tablet PC to read the site a bit, and just now came back to this computer and retyped my reply. When I hit "enter" I got a not logged in message and lost that reply. I tried using the back arrow to recover what I'd typed both last night and again just now, with no success.

Used to be I could switch back and forth between the tablet and this laptop with no log-in problems but since the last bit of "updating" to the site that just doesn't work anymore. My account page shows two log-ins to my account but that makes no difference, I still have to log-in non each machine each time I use it. Oh, I do tick the "Remember Me" box every time I log-in, but that doesn't change anything.

I've seen this before

It has even happened to me. I cleared all my browser caches for the site and the site cookies and after a day or so it cleared up. That was some time ago.

Not sure why it is happening to you now except it may have to do with the new caching software. Just when did this start? And is anyone else having this happen to them?

About a month

It started about a month ago, roughly. As I recall you were having problems at that time and were changing things around, new software and such. First thing I noticed was that going to BC via the book mark I'd always used was acting funny. That bookmark - bigclosetr dot us /node/ would load a front page missing the lefthand column. Using the same address without the /node/ loaded all three columns. I didn't say anything 'cause I knew you and Piper were busting yourselves trying to fix things, so I figured I'd wait for you to get everything up and running and see what happened. Sure enough, that problem went away.

But then the constant logging in started. It has been annoying but I hadn't said anything yet. Losing two PM replies got me a bit frustrated so I thought I'd mention it. Like I said the first one was my fault, I should have saved my reply to the clipboard and posted it today, and I just forgot. But the log-in was getting more annoying. I've even had times where I'd open the previous night's window (never logged out), selected a story and read it, then got hit with the log-in request when trying to make a comment or return to the homepage.

If I remember anything else I'll pass it on.

Try clearing the caches and cookies

Couldn't hurt. It is actually acting like it has a corrupted session record for you. If you delete the cookies, it will have to make a new session record and that may clear this up. Clearing the caches will keep it from just making a new cookie. I'm simplifying this explanation.

Log In, Slowdowns

It's been slow for at least a month. Very, very slow last weekend, IIRC. There have been log in problems as well. Clearing the cache helped some, but not back to normal. I too lost a long post that I had been working on for half an hour. When I went to post it, I was greeted with the message that I was not logged in.

After clearing the caches, things speeded up, until traffic increased. Then it seemed as if you had a very large deficit of bandwidth. Access is slowing down radically with increased users, much slower than I had experienced before. Do you really have the bandwidth available that you think you do?

I have some some knowledge of telecomminications and the Internet, although I'm not up to date, being a retired communications engineer. If I can be of help, please contact me.

I have to log in

much more often than I used to. It's also rather slow again tonight.

Me too

I've had to log in a few times but it seems to have fixed the problem.
The only problem that I have now is that it takes about half a minute
for pages to open after clicking on them.
Very slow, more than normal.

No problem, here.

Every so two weeks or so

Maybe every two weeks or so I have to log in. It seems to happen at a regular interval, and it's not a big deal since Firefox fills in the password fields for me.

I always go to my tracking page first, so if I've been logged out, it asks me right off for my password.
