Well it could've gone either way!

I designated Monday a writing day and eventually i did get the next chapter started! Not that it went exactly smoothly but some is better than none right? The down side was that my bank account was nearly emptied - i thought my travel insurance was paid last month but no, it was this which left me with less than five Altarian dollars a day to last me intil next Tuesday! Sometimes life sucks and its usually mine doing it. As the writing was going slowly i made another crumble, plum and blackberry then cooked up the rest of the plums and a couple of quince into a wet 'jam' which will go well with a curry or six!

Yesterday had a half decent forecast, i might not have any moolah but i can still go for a ride. I had only the loosest of plans, after an hour i stopped for a cuppa - free thanks to a loyalty card so that was a plus as was the bright, warm weather. A route formulated itself as i supped my tea, finances night be dire but i reckoned i could afford a bag of chips so after another hour i stopped at Dursley for said food. Geez, nearly £3 for a portion, the only redeeming feature was that they were superior to the double fried but under cooked excuses found around Brizzle and points south.

Having been robbed i started the hard work, a 20% climb up onto the Cotswold edge then more short sharp jobs as i made my way south. A short bit of bridleway resulted in a dose of nettle stings before a last push up, then quickly down to 'greater' Bristol, i hit 60kph coming off the edge! 112km, only just shy of 1000m, the day made tougher by the warm weather and the stiff westerley that dogged the return leg.

Which brings us to today which weatherwise has been a clone of yesterday. No bike ride though, no today was for writing! Chapter 19 of the new book is finished - its up on Patreon now for those who support me there. Then i raided the larder - the result, a rustic 'bolognese' style sauce, i say style, you don't normally have quince or courgette in there but it came out great, plates were cleaned, patterns removed.

The next couple of days look quite benign weatherwise, i'm thinking Avebury tomorrow then on Saturday i'm off to Imber - there's public access over the Bank Holiday weekend, full report on Sunday. And its the big day tomorrow, #1 daughter's fortieth birthday - i was but a child when she was born of course - my story and i'm sticking to it!

Until Sunday,
Byee,
Madeline Anafrid

Altarian Dollars?

I'm not clear on the reference. (Altair being around 12 light years away from the Sun and probably not having any planets, there wouldn't seem to be much need for an exchange rate...)

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is an invaluable book for all those wishing to see the universe for less than 30 Altairian dollars a day

A trilogy

in five parts!

The radio & TV series were great - the film, sadly, less so.

So long,
and thanks for all the fish

"We apologize for the inconvenience."

Honestly, that would explain a lot...

Nettles?

Wot! You didn't 'scrump' them for tea or for making into fertiliser? :) :)

If you want some nettles

Samantha, if you are looking for nettles, I can happily provide you with three or four tonne grab bags, courtesy of the field edges round us. Apparently they grow well there, due to all the dog wee. So it goes.
