I am trying to learn to be grateful for the small gifts.

Like yesterday, I went over to Mike and Carol's to check on their kitties while they are away for the weekend.

Already that's something to be grateful for - that they trust me enough to do that.

While there. I got a chance to say hello to Blanca, who as always met me with her list of complaints, and then I noticed Lucy sitting on the couch.

Now when Mike and Carol first got Lucy, she would hide anytime I was around, but both this time and the last time I went over, she has been willing to let me pet her.

So I sat on the couch just giving her some scritches, while Blanca was at my feet.

And that is the gift I am grateful for today.

We had a kitty visitor yesterday ourselves!

I opened the front door, and laying there on the porch was a gorgeous cat, white/beige/gray tabby with a pair of the bluest eyes you've ever seen, just hanging out. Me and Ms. Joyce talked to her for a bit, but much as she wanted us to let her in the house we didn't: we don't know who her owner is, and Ms. Joyce has cat allergies.

Sweet animals are one of life's purest joys.

You have 'landed on' ...

... (what is maybe) a "Big Secret".

Being "Happy with/from the 'little things'". And the 'Little Happys' outnumber the 'Big Happys' by maybe thousands to one.

Look around (with me). My 'little happys', right now, include: my radio station just played Vivaldi, so I have music, power, internet, coffee ...

I get to 'talk to' you. I have BCTS people and stories, my computer is busy Doing Science (via https://boinc.berkeley.edu)

The 'Big Happys' are, by their nature, rare: a Caribbean trip, a promotion & raise, nobody closer than a mile and the wind drops a big winner lottery ticket at your feet ...

There is a story "from the East" of a man being chased by lions. Forced over a cliff, he grabs at some roots and looks down. Tigers. The roots are starting to tear ... He sees and eats a strawberry: "How delicious!" This is a 'Little Happy'.

Now if some hunters come and drive away those tigers, and guide him safely down the cliff, that would be a Big Happy.

How do you think I get/collect all those hug/gles that I have to dump out into the Aether for others to grab? Even with 'dumping' them, the hugs try to leak out of my eyes several times a day ...
