A sadness across the country

As the process of saying farewell to the Queen continues.

There is no doubt that, as we move towards next Monday's funeral, the country is in sombre mood. Of course some try to score political points but they only make themselves look like poor humans with no empathy, they are to be pitied. I said previously that i'm no ardent Royalist but these times, the ceremony and so on are maybe a once in a lifetime occurence, indeed there are many who have lived and died never knowing any other Sovereign, this truly is a historic time for us all, regardless of political leanings and nationality.

On to other things. So Monday, i took myself for a meatball walk to the Swedish shop, it was a pleasant day but for some light showers, however my mood wasn't conducive to writing, maybe events up in Scotland were affecting me more than i'd expected. Yesterday was a famp day across the country, I decided on a shorter ride than usual as getting wet through isn't exactly fun, so it was a trip to Aquae Sulis followed by a lunch stop on the bike trail for just 55km.

Today things are brighter, i'll ne amongst those watching the TV coverage of the next stage of the Queens final journey from Buckingham Palace to Westminster where she'll lie in State until Monday. If i'd been nearer i would have gone in person to pay my respects but i'm not so it'll have to be from afar.

I've posted the next part of Anime Days, chapter 21, Gaby Exposed. Once again you get the original illustrations so you can visualise the scenes.

Thats all for today, i'll be back on Sunday, in the meantime, take care, be well,
Ciao

In more than 1 way, she was grandmother to the entire world.

I’d watch those wet rides

Just got back from doctors with antibiotics for ear infection from my wet ride.

Aside from those paying respects there was also that woman that had the audacity to hold up a sign down with monarchy. If we all were actually under a monarchy she would be dead. I say we even being in Canada she was our queen. Sadly we have king chuckles.

Side note I guess all the ships with hms in front of name need new documentation going from her majesty to his majesty now too. That has to be a headache in Royal Navy. Somehow I don’t think there is going to be a ship named after him for quite some time. Queen liz had two. One navy one cruise ship. Ironic that both are not sailing anymore, she outlived them.

Op my mistake there is a third new aircraft carrier named after her now, apparently not she just sponsored it. Named after dreadnought class battleship of same name.

all the ships only bear the HMS initials its not really an issue, anything else is just paperwork. As for specific gendered documents, i'm sure the governments concerned will just issue a single amendment covering all such documents - no need to go through every one, in the UK we do have something over 1000 years of documents with both male and female regents named, its never been an issue, we take things less literally than some colonials!

Very Sick

I once ran fifteen miles in a steady cold rain -- and then was ill for weeks.

I once cycled ....

... 300km in steady cold rain, got 'Easter' knee and was off my bike for a fortnight. Including extended café stops it took just short of 18 hours. I think the middle hilly 100km through central Wales was what did it :)

Not much of a monarchist and I'll be glad when it's all over. We went for a ride on our tandem the day of Diana's funeral because the roads were quiet. I've reached the age when I go to a lot of funerals for people I've known and loved without watching a funeral for someone I've never met.

over the years

i've ridden in the wet a lot - hey its the UK!

These days, for noe at least, i have the choice not to on a day to day basis, if its wet i stay indoors unless i'm pretty sure it'll be drying up in short order. Never suffered with Spring knees, well i ride year round and in the past that would include any and every weather condition, it was a rare day when i wimped and went to work by bus, think laraping down. Tuesdays wet was at the merely annoying level.

I think i too went for a ride the day of Diana's over hyped funeral. I may do so on Monday but i will be watching the funeral.
