and other random influences.

So as you may have noticed, i've rediscovered my muse and i'm getting some words on pages. Now i've had a couple of fallow periods since early 2019, writing has been difficult and sporadic but i think i've worked out at least part of the issue. Back before my recent round of woes, whilst living on my own there was nearly always sound in the flat, either from CD's or most often, the radio. Whilst sometimes it could be a distraction (one reason for not having a TV!) the rest of the time it acted as a sort of catalyst to my writing.

Since losing my flat i've never been able to sit at the computer with the radio or even reliably play CD's (yes i know all about internet radio and music streaming but you need a machine that doesn't fall over all the time and can multi function.) Anyhoo, i've now found my external CD write/reader which works better than the internal drive on the lappy so i'm now able to listen to some of my music. Its a great help particularly at the moment writing Gaby with her singing career, i get into the groove and the words come spilling out, it really feels like i'm there at the gigs but it is a bit disconcerting to find myself singing the German lyrics to 99 balloons when i'm out on the bike! (slightly less worrying than bursting into full on Julie Andrews - The hills are alive..... okay i'll put a cork in it.) I'm listening to Nena atm, a two disc live set only available in Germany.

Talking of out on the bike, i've got two decent rides in at this end of the week. On Thursday I went up to Stroud, returning via the Cotswolds whilst yesterday i did an almost identical 111 kilometres in a loop through Midsomer Norton (of the Murders fame), along the Mendip and back. Very different rides, both cold but dry with similar 900+m of up - they weren't planned that way, it just happened, indeed i was making the routes up as i went.

On Friday i started another Smell of the Crowd chapter but i let myself get distracted so fell short of completing it, finishing it instead this morning. So my Patreon Krew have another chapter to read and i am a step closer to having a wider release before the end of the month.

That's it for today, i'll be back with more trilling about nothing, and a Gaby Fame chapter on Wednesday,
but for now

Did You Bump Into

Detective Chief Inspector Barnaby? While I wouldn't want to live in such a murderous environment I must admit to it being one of my favourite TV shows.

TBH

I've never seen the show - no TV for Maddy.

Whilst it's .not far from Brizzle, I don't go through very often as Midsommer and Radstock next door contrive to have long, nasty climbs on every road out - even the old railway climbs for several miles to get out!
