We're so pleased to be with you, look around see what you do

Yup, Jeff Lyne's lyrics seem quite appropriate this week as we've enjoyed several days of almost wall to wall sunshine and indeed blue skies. Its not been hot, but mid teens is a lot better than single figures, warm enough to get both arms and legs out from their thermal enclosure of the last 6 months or so!

So what's been happening this week? Well Monday, as usual was fairly quiet, a few chores, some bike maintenance, a bit of food shopping and a sausage casserole filled the day _ Bev's #2 bike is fully roadworthy again just in time for the better weather.

After the mega marathon of Saturday's ride, i departed Tuesday morning for a more relaxed, shorter ride to WSM, chips at the seaside, what better way to relax? It really was a quite glorious day, sitting there eating my fried potato it seemed a waste to go too directly back so i adjusted my plan to take in a loop across to Wells before crossing the hills back to the Avon. Now whilst i can find my way about the Levels, there are plenty of roads and indeed villages i've not used/visited and taking one such lane changed the afternoons plans even further.

The sign had Glastonbury on it - well its only a few miles from Wells so i continued on, now aiming for the pointy hill with the tower on top. I got caught up in a cow movement then behind a tractor going slower than i could manage but eventually i arrived at the town which is where my enthusiasm got the better of me - again. Instead of turning north for Wells, i continued eastwards, past the festival site and into the Mendip tailings around Shepton Mallet.

Did i take the Brizzle road? 'eck as like, i continued towards Frome. This bit of road was quite busy and after one particularly poor HGV overtake i stopped for my sandwiches, already with over 100km in the legs. Rather than continue on the busy A road i adjusted my plans to take me onto a mostly off road route to cover the remaining fifty kilometres. Yep, fifty K later, i had completed an imperial century and i dismounted with some relief - its one thing to plan a longer ride but when it evolves like this it can be hard work towards the end.

Next time out will definitely be shorter - she says!

Today's Gaby chapter is What Next?, Drew somehow evades a Gabisode but that doesn't mean he avoids trouble! Of course its day 2 of the 'Charity' weekend so there's racing and, and... well other stuff.

On Sunday i'll start posting Book 24, Ontario and we return to once a week per book chapters.

Well that just about wraps things up for today, after lunch i'll fit in a walk and maybe do some gardening - the veggies are starting to make some progress but so are the weeds!

Tschuss,
Madeline Anafrid
