Christmas, the most joyful time of year
as family gather from far and near
Lights are hung, for all to see
Memories revealed while trimming the tree
Joy and excitement abound
As gifts chosen with love are passed around

I chose a new life
And must pay the price
Christmas texts are sent to family and friends
Some two-word replies, no response is the trend
Cards were sent out, good wishes to all
few replies, a dead name response, emotions fall

Christmas, the most depressing time of the year
Not welcome with family, far or near
No lights for me to see
Memories bring tears, with the absent tree
Tears and depression abound
As no gifts from loved ones are found

Christmas, the most depressing time of the year

Yep,

That pretty much sums it up.

Hugs, Dear Child!

I wasn't going to say anything, nobody likes a Scrooge, but the holidays are
always a tough time for me too. I don't mind being alone during most of the year
but Christmas and all the ads, decorations and supermarket muzak that come with it
are impossible to escape, and it feels like my solitary existence is being rubbed in my face.
It's not that I'm being rejected for who I am, it's just that my family's all dead or absent
I never had a relationship and I'm lousy at making friends, so there's nobody around
to either reject or accept me. At least we can be glad that it's over now,
we lived through it, and won't have to think about it for a whole year.
And like I say, January thru October-ish I am generally fairly happy.

(I know this is a Friendly Place, and Teek might feel differently,
but right now I'm not really in the market or in the mood
for well-intended advice...)

Hormones

To make matters worse this holiday season, my doctor dramatically increased my hormones just before Thanksgiving. I've been crying a lot watching the Little House series on the Hallmark channel. And I thought this would be better than all those sappy Hallmark Christmas movies.

You poor girl

I fear you are writing for yourself, and not on behalf of others.
I hope you don't find the New Year to be as lonesome.

Christmas

Yes, I was writing for / about myself. The hardest holiday of the year for me is Christmas. I'll be fine once I get through the holiday season. Thanks.
