I dont want to sound like I dont appreciate my online friends, but I really wish I had a girlfriend I could go out for a coffee with. Its my day off work, and I really feel lonely, and there isn't a lot I can do about it.

Ah, well.

I feel your pain

That's how I felt all saturday & Sunday. This produces a large vacuum. (I.e. It sucks big time.) It makes me just a little less lonely knowing I'm not the only one feeling this way. I wish I could help us both out. You know of a nearby SRU shop, or at least a Zulo medallion, in my area? - daydreaming **Sigh**

I was lying down minding my own business when life came by and drove right over me

I can certainly sympathize

I can certainly sympathize with you. I'm fortunate to have decent roommates I can go down and visit but it isn't the same.

A BIG CYBER HUG

I'm sorry;

I cannot be of more use than just supplying words of comfort.

As to having friends to share your new life it's firstly a matter of going looking for friends, then finding friends, (often in the most unexpected places,) and finally sticking with those friends.

Is there not some sort of LGBT support group in your area? I can see your main dillema though, if you are restricted to one day per week off then you are certainly going to have your work cut out finding and then keeping the RIGHT sorts of friends.

I can only wish you good luck.

Ragtime Rachel's picture

...since I live in an apartment complex for elderly and disabled. Most of those who live here are either far older than I, or far younger. Even though the other residents here like me, generally, since they know about me I doubt they truly consider me "one of the girls." I'd love nothing better--at least once in a great while--than to have a friend to sip coffee or tea with me at the many outdoor tables along College Avenue in the spring, summer and fall. (I live in a college town, as evidenced by the street name, so that means a town of coffee shops. But so far, no luck.)

What friends I do have come from the ranks of the caregivers who come in and help me with my personal care, but I unfortunately am not allowed to socialize with them after-hours. So, if I go anywhere (I love haunting restaurants, coffee shops and thrift stores) it's usually on my own.

I quite enjoy those solitary times, so it isn't so bad. I at least have the chance to catch up on my reading.
