so yesterday I went to the phone store to try and straighten out what's going on with my cell phone, and the experience was just a bunch of gut-punches

Not only did I spend almost an hour there and accomplished nothing, the whole time both the in store person and the phone help person insisted on using male pronouns for me, even after me showing them my ID that said my name is Dorothy.

I am now hurting badly, and wish I could just hide from the world forever.

>>Ask for a Manager<<

The cell phone people are Your Employees.

They work for >you<, no matter who it is that they think signs their over-paid checks.

If they are confused by Your Request (demand is a harsh, but true word) for a manager, ask for the number of the person they call, when they call in sick.

Don't forget/hesitate/be shy about publishing your Bad Experience. Name names, both the cell company, and the person who provided the dis-service. Your forums include here, your FB page, and the Company.

Companies almost always have a web site, and a 'contact us' link. Use it. No need to specify the problem as mis-gendering. Just say "failed to to address you with the same courtesy and respect that is due to every >Customer<, to every person who comes in their door".

Give as much detail to Corporate as possible -
time, date, store location, amount of your time wasted, the loser's name. If issues were not resolved to >your< satisfaction, say that also.

Now ...

Deep breaths, have some tea & biscuits/cookies. Grab a boatload of hug/gles from me, via the Aether - delivery is at the Speed of Thought.

Next time

Next time ask for a manager
Also it is better to go to the carrier's actual store rather than a contracted one
I find the Verizon store much better than say Wireless Zone
Hope today is going better
