A man that I have known for perhaps 25 years when I was attending an Evangelical Church, just told me about something that I've never heard of before and the way it was worded it seemed like he wondered about me. I'm shaken right to the core, and do not know what my future is going to be.

He asked me about the term, "Clovergender". I had never heard of it and no one ever accused me of any sort of abuse of a child. He felt that the idea is that folk like that are Pediophiles. I raised three children and there was never any of that sort of behavior.

One place I looked on the internet said that the term is a hoax that is put out by the Alt Right.

This is being passed around

on Social media and Youtube, etc. by a extreme conspiracy-driven group called Qanon.
I've actually seen this garbage posted on my Evangelical friends' FB pages. This is about as dangerous to the LGBTQ Community as anything because it places us at high risk and completely misidentifies and distorts the real majority child sexual abuse and trafficking - the overwhelming majority of offenders are family members, family friends, and trusted adults the children already know. Most others are at risk runaways; ironically many of whom are gay and trans teens who have been kicked out of the house and turned away at shelters.

When I was a counselor in a pre-teen in-patient treatment center, I worked with twin boys in the program a year apart. When they were 11, they and their 9 year old sister were raped repeatedly by family members and friends. As hard to believe as it sounds, they were the rule rather than the exception.

This is from Snopes via Reuters:

False. “Clovergender” is a hoax that originated on 4chan and has since been spread to slur LGBT people.

Gwen ask him if he is a Pharisee? Don't explain to him it is one who spreads lies, rumors, is in love with himself for his exulted position.
You know Dr. Benjamin classified all of us with dysphoria, mentally ill, rights? "Clovergender" is another sneer campaign against trans. Hon, don't let the hatred, fear mongering get to you. It'll make an old woman out of you. If we start down the road listing all the false rumors and beliefs what trans are and what we aren't. We'll be here next week still listing items.

Posts on social media claim that people identifying as “Clovergender” are attempting to justify pedophilia. This damaging claim stems from an alt-right hoax intended to slur members of the LGBT community. According to one of the posts, the premise of the term “clovergender” is that “a person is a younger age at heart and therefore it’s okay for them to be with someone much younger, even if they’re an adult and the person they want to be with is a minor.” According to The Advocate, a magazine that focuses on gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and queer news and politics, former pharmaceutical executive Martin Shkreli began “promoting ‘clovergender,’ an identity concocted by trolls to mock LGBT people” on January 4, 2017. As reported by Snopes two days later, Shkreli tweeted “Please spread clovergender awareness,” linking to a Twitter account that no longer exists.

Shrekeli is a convicted felon and multi-millionaire pharmaceutical company owner mostly known for gaining rights to an anti HIV drug and raising the cost per dosage from $13.50 to $750.00. He was convicted on charges unrelated to this but has enough friends in key places that he did not serve out his term.

I have friends who are being confronted about this and similar attacks that are deliberately misinforming the public to the detriment of the kids being abused. I have relatives that believe this.

Stealthing it out

I'm in Western Oregon and I think this will go away after the election. It is relatively cool. Today I rode my electric bike about 3 miles to get groceries. If I can I wear a Nike Hijab,Surgical mask, sunglasses, leggings and a skirt, so it seems that I can pass without difficulty.

Confuse Them!

Hypatia Littlewings's picture

I say confuse the hell out of anyone who uses the term.
Ask them if they mean, "three leaf, or four leaf clover". Then add, "there is big difference, you really should look it up". *
(optional)"and never mix them up with pansies or daises" (or ad-lib whatever).

* They might even accidentally find it is a hoax when they look it up.

Everyone thought

There was a time when we thought that the internet was going to be a place where people could go to build community and share common goals. I guess it has done that. But not the way we thought. It has not so much unified us as it has splintered us. I'm often surprised by the by the diversity of communities that the internet has enabled. Often for good. Sometimes not so much. I wonder if we need someone to monitor and regulate this. I wonder if it is possible or if it is even desirable.

Info Source! Or is it?

Also, with the Web as the peoples News Source. And it is not just social media.
We have gone from freedom of the press to, wild lies posted by anyone who feel like it. Especially since many don't read past the headline, or check if it is anything more then a meme that just looks like a blurb for a real article.*
Not that I would endorse censorship as such either. I am not sure what the fix is tho.

.

*note: I'm not sure it should really be called a meme if is not obviously joke or such, and instead looks like it is a legit headline, but is not true.

Simple proof of the illegitimacy of the Clover thing

is its use of gender to represent sexuality.

Furries don't call themselves fur-gender, because it has nothing to do with gender.

Trans-disabled people (yes that's a Thing, or I've seen it claimed) don't claim themselves as disable-gendered, because it's not a gender thing.

Pay attention to the tells.
