forgotten the Julie O story of the same title or I would have mentioned that the band of sisters in this story are actually in python terms the 'Spanish Inquisition' and have the same effect on those they visit

The sisters are an order of nuns that are also soldiers in service of a self styled God-Emperor.

Sadly, I do not know what RL is serving E. E. Nailey.
A good story up to now.
Imho, it look almost like it could be parallel to the Death Dealer Saga by Wolfjess. "Long long time ago explorers left earth to colonize space... They were lost and presumed dead... But thanks to the one now known as 'god', they survived and thrived in a new society...."

I do not think any of those two talented writers had any intention of merging their stories or took from the other.
