Synopsis..

Prince Henry Wynter was the Heir to the High Throne of the Heptarchy and prophesised to one day lead his people to unparalleled greatness. Twenty two years after he abandoned his destiny and his throne for the chance to be the person he felt he was meant to be, he finds that Fate has not yet finished with him. The events surrounding the proposed appointment of a new Heir to the High Throne have consequences that reach as far the remote farmstead refuge of the former prince and threaten to destroy the new life that she has built for herself.

Eorá°e (The World)

The Heptarchy - The name for the seven kingdoms of the Angelcyn which occupy the continent of Albion. The Seven Kingdoms are based on the real seven kingdoms of Anglo-Saxon England, although subject to significant changes to fit the Wynter Lioness universe. The Seven Kingdoms are:

The Kingdom of Cantia - It's capital is Canterbury. The people are known as the Cantwara.
The Twin Kingdoms of Bernicia & Deira - It's capital is York. The old Bernician capital was Bamburgh. It's people are collectively the North Angeln.
The Kingdom of Mercia - It's capital is Tamworth. It is composed of the sub-kingdoms of Lindsey, Pecsaete, Magonsaete, Wreocansaete, and the Middle Angeln are part of it. Collectively the people are known as Mercian and are of Angeln stock.
The Kingdom of Angeln - It's capital is Norwich. The Angeln people are known as the Angeln.
The Kingdom of East Seaxna - It's capital is London. The sub-kingdom of the Middle Saxons containing London is part of East Seaxna and dominates the rest culturally. It's people are known as the Middle Saxons.
The Kingdom of the Regnenses - It's capital is Selsey. It's people are known as the Regini and are of Saxon stock.
The Kingdom of West Seaxna - It's capital is Winchester. The sub-kingdom's of Meonwara and Wihtwara are part of it. It's people are known as the West Saxons.
Isle of Avalon - Home to the Angelcyn Court of the High King. It is independent from the seven kingdoms although geographically it is located in the Kingdom of the West Seaxna.

Weavers

There are seven types of Weaver that exist, the most powerful being the elemental weavers. These are sub-divided into three sanctioned Orders of Weavers (Earth, Water and Air) and one outlawed Order (Fire)

Each Order has a pyrimidal heirachy with fewer members holding the rank the higher up in the heirarchy, as follows:

  • Novice (7 members of this rank) - The rank all new entrants to the Orders are granted. At this level they have natural instinctive talent but no formal training. They are only capable of the most basic weaving unaided. There are never more than 7 members of this rank in the Order at any time.
  • Initiate (6 members of this rank) - A weaver who has passed the first test of the Order in demonstrating control over their siden.
  • Adept (5 members of this rank) - A weaver who passed the second test of the Order. An adept may under the supervision of an Articled Weaver instruct a Novice.
  • Articled Weaver (4 members of this rank) - A weaver who has passed the third and final test of the Order. An Articled Weaver may instruct an Initiate or supervise an Adept instructing a Novice.
  • Master Weaver (3 members of this rank) - A Master Weaver may train any rank below her. While being trained by the Lord High Weaver they are known as 'Apprentice Weavers' during the five years of the training. Only when the apprenticeship has been completed are you eligible to become an Arch Weaver.
  • Arch Weaver (2 members of this rank) - Arch Weavers are Master Weavers who have undergone training under the personal tutelage of the Lord High Weaver.
  • Principal Weaver (1 member of this rank) - The Head of an Order of siden.
  • Lord High Weaver (1) - The Head of all three Orders and also the Royal Weaver to the High Court. Has a seat at the Privy Council.

The Wynter Lioness

Sounds a lot like the J.R.R.R.Tolkien world of magic.
