I was rummaging through Fictionmania, and came across a couple of authors that I've read before, then let lie fallow, then picked up again - still wondering. Plus others :)

Hypatia. Stopped posting at FM in the end of the third quarter of 2003. Any recent information?

The Scotsman. Posted two parts out of what looked to be at least a four part story at the end of 2002, then stopped. Mentioned Maggie Finson as inspiration and co-conspirator in another project (which I've never seen mentioned elsewhere). Any news?

The Professor. Last new story in 2009 - anything from him lately?

(plus others, but I'll leave it at that for now)

I communicated ...

... with her for a while. She was a great story teller but wasn't so good as a writer at the outset (misspellings, typos and difficult sentence construction) but improved greatly with practice. I think she hailed from Cheshire or the South Manchester area, which isn't too far from Sherwood ;). I know she rode an old BSA Bantam motor cycle.

I seem to remember proofing one her short stories but I haven't heard from her for ages.

Is it so long since the Professor posted a new story? I enjoyed all his output but prefer his none Ovid ones the best. He wrote longish tales that were always a good read and not serialised which is both unusual these days and very welcome.

I'm still alive and still

I'm still alive and still been around in the shadows while I’ve been quiet. I've been working in mental health, in a non statutory setting, for the last few years; bloody awful hours, very little financial reward but oodles and oodles of emotional reward... This didn’t leave much time or emotion for writing.

Unfortunately despite best efforts we’ve just (in the last couple of weeks) had to close the doors due to lack of finances. Mental health in the UK tends to be a Cinderella service that was seriously underfunded before the governmental cuts, now it’s just silly.

So this week I have once again returned to my keyboard looking for solace and escapism. I’m not sure if I’ve still got the knack of getting the words from my brain, through the keyboard and onto the screen; but something is still working up there, flashes and glimpses of other places...

I’ll try anyway :-)

Well, I certainly hope you

Well, I certainly hope you continue to write; perhaps bring your other stories here as well?

I am sorry to hear that you lost your job, that's almost never a good thing - good luck finding a new one soon.

I'll get a life when it's proven and substantiated to be better than what I'm currently experiencing.

Unfinished stories

Melange's picture

Oh! I remember the Scotsman's story. I was so sad when it wasn't finished, since it had such potential.

Oh, well, such is life on the internets :/

I've wondered

too where they have gone. The Scotsman's tale truly had a lot of potential. The Prof. has long been one of my Fav authors and I hope he, all of them are well.

I rather like his Crescent City stories better than the mainline Ovid stories. Just personal taste I guess.:)

PS: Don't forget to add Noel Lexicon and her "Princess by Default" tale to the list!

Someone else...

Someone else, who was quite active here, seems to have dropped off the face of the earth. PS (from New Zealand, if I recall correctly.)

I can quite understand how life events can catch up with a person and get in the way of their writing. I know it's gotten in the way of mine.

PS

I think that PS was from Whangarei, New Zealand, on the north Island. I liked PS's stories a lot. We PM'd a bit. I suppose I dropped the ball on that. I wonder if I can dig through old PMs?
