I Think this School District could have problems with this being what state this happen in! Richard

PORT ORCHARD, Wash. – A 15-year-old boy has been suspended from school after wearing high heels and a dress to school as a part of a challenge laid down by his mother.

Sam Saurs, a ninth grader at Sedgwick Junior High School in Port Orchard, said he told his mother that wearing high heels wouldn't be that hard. Saurs' mother challenged him to try it and he accepted. To take it even further, he decided to wear a dress, too.

After Saurs showed up at school Wednesday in the dress and heels, the school suspended him for the remainder of the year. That suspension was later reduced to three days. But Saurs won't be allowed to go to the ninth grade dance or the class party at Wild Waves.

The South Kitsap School District said the issue has been resolved and would not make any further comment about the incident.

What Should Happen

What should happen is that the ninth grade class should show a support from him by not going to the dance or wave park, but we know that would not happen in this world. It sucks that he was punished by adult that should be more tolerant. VERY SAD ---RICHIE2

Stunt

I'm not so sure he school was wrong. . .maybe a bit overboard going beyond sending him home to change.

I believe the school was wrong. A visit to the school psychologist
and if everything is alright, no gender problems, and this is just
something between him and his mother the only cocern should be that
he does does not look foolish. I do not condone cross dressing but
it happens. Just go to any school and you see girls dressed as boys.
Levis, or jeans and tee-shirts and sneakers or jogging shoes. It
comes down to equal liberty for all.

I yearn for the days when I sat in the grass and saw pretty young girls,
with curls in their hair and the hem of their dresses dancing with
the beat of their high heels as they strolled down the sidewalk. Waiting
for a gentle breeze that would expose the beauty underneath their dancing
skirt as they fight the breeze to maintain their modesty.

Sledgehammer, meet nut...

Jeez, a pupil breaks the dress code once and the school's initial reaction is to suspend him for the rest of the school year? Nothing like using the proverbial sledgehammer to crack a nut. Even a three day suspension and prohibition from school activities seems awfully like overkill to me. Sending him home to change, perhaps supplemented by a letter to the parents, should have been enough.

Goodness knows how they'd act if they had a TG pupil...

Omg, small mindedness at it worst

Don't they have better things to do than banning a guy from school activities for crossdressing? If that had happened to me I'd asked my parents to sue the school. I doubt they have forbidden guys wearing girls clothes, so the only ground on which they did this is their own goddamn bigotery.

Seriously the correct reaction would be that every guy comes in drag, but I doubt they would have the guts to do it.

I have to say the boy has cojones :D I hope this won't discurage him from beeing brave and his parents will support him against the school.

school madness

The powers that be that run our schools are a bunch of moronic fools,if they spent more time teaching than picking on kids for petty infringments or a bit of craziness that would be better.

Even in the UK we have problems at schools especially with the uniform policies.
