Dear friends;

My alter ego is spending all of next week attending some work related training, some place called Kalamazoo MI.

Of course, I have to go along for the ride. It shouldn't be too bad, because I like flying, especially when someone else is paying for it, hee hee. Also, I get to have the evenings to do some writing or sight seeing.

If any of you, my friends, are in that area and who like to chat. I could use a tour guide. After all, what's there to see in Kalamazoo? Are there some inexpensive restaurants there? I guess I'll find out.

Anyway, if anyone want's to contact me about getting together to chat, please leave me a private message here, or e-mail me at [email protected].

Kalamazoo

About the only thing famous or interesting about the city is the song written back in 1942, "I've Got a Gal In Kalamazoo" by Glenn Miller.

Here's the URL for the city's web site: http://www.kalamazoomi.com/

Beach Boys

Wasn't that the song the Beach Boys made their comeback with? :)

Wouldn’t it be nice to think about the things we did last summer?

I was busy doin’ nothin’ in my room looking for hot fun in the summertime with the California girls. My friends Peggy Sue, Barbara Ann, Deirdre, and Caroline . . . no I meant to say Wendy . . . were with me tonight. The good vibrations I got from them were wonderful fun, fun, fun. Then I kissed her, the little girl I once knew had become Ruby, baby; and we made pet sounds all summer long.

God only knows, when I grow up I want do it again 'til I die.

Ruby?

I don't remember a Ruby in the Beach Boys play list. Are you thinking of Kenny Rogers?

The Drifters

I believe Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys used to cover the old Drifters tune, "Ruby, Baby" in their live act. It does appear in a live album of Brian Wilson on Tour and was listed as being included in the proposed "New Album" follow up to Fifteen Big Ones. It would have been a good song for their vocal talents.

I saw the B-Boys in concert twice, and don't recall any of it. I was more of a P R and the Raiders kind of girl.

I thought

Jill, I thought that I was the only Paul Revere and the Raiders, featuring Mark Lindsay fan left alive. I got all stupid at a car show this past weekend as I shed tears drooling over 100 point GTOs, (goats)Cobras, Jaguars, and the infamous 409. Yes, period music blared through the sound system. "Little GTO," "Hey Little Cobra," "She's Real Fine My 409." I got so moved that I hauled out my 8mm home movies to watch myself race my dearly departed '69 427 Camaro. I even cursed at the screen when I cut a lazy light.

Ah Man!

Does seeing PDQ Bach in concert in 1971 count?

I still think the Concerto for Piano vs Orchestra is one of the wildest sendups of classical and popular music ever. Though the 1712 Overture has it's moments, -- note particularly 3:19 seconds and imediately after. The French will never forgive America for this insult.

Um, what was the original thread here? Thanks for making feel not so old.

Ah, the original thread ...

... was a request by me, for anyone in Kalamazoo who might like to get together, chat, show me around, maybe dinner. I stuck in a hotel for the evening all this week, just me and the computer. So far no volentires.

It's getting pretty lonely.

Is it getting any better?

Is it getting any better?

My company on't let me go, otherwise, I'd be driving right now.

Why aren't there more good Mustang songs out there?
