Road to Myself - 4: A Surprise Gift
Annette MacGregor

The wife and older daughter spent longer out running errands today than I expected... And, to my surprise, when they came in...

When they came in, they said "we stopped at Dress Barn on the way home, and got you something".

Needless to say, I was moving even faster - out to greet them.

What was it you may ask? A skirt (mid calf - flowing "peasant" style (I think that's what it's called anyway). It's in shades of blues and violets (sorta tie-die effect) and a blouse (purple, short (cap) sleeves, gathered a bit below the bust, and masking my gut to some extent... Fits nice too!). :-)

The wife also said that she thought this new outfit would make shopping easier, when we do that in the weeks/months ahead (I tend to agree!) (I've got a costume party ahead of me, Thursday evening... Hmmm. Should I wear the outfit? The cleavage isn't really showing... so I COULD have a stuffed bra... LOL What a lark. Worth thinking about.)

They told me they thought I needed a little something nice to wear when we go on vacation in two weeks! (Sadly, my wardrobe is a tad limited currently. A bunch of cami's; a polo shirt & two blouses... to go with my shorts.) We tried ordering skorts (a pair for me and one for my wife) but they came in way too small, *sighs*, so will be being returned.

In any event, I now have the start to a wardrobe. There were two other blouses purchased, and the wife said we'd "share" them. :-)

(In case you couldn't tell, I'm a very happy girl right now. But, I'm not looking forward to putting this outfit away soon - to change, and go do the stuff for the charity group that's looking for my alter ego. *sighs*

Thanks for reading - if you got this far.

I spent several hours (in lines) at the MVC (Motor Vehicle Commission) office today... Everyone was quite nice. When I got to the last counter, I was greeted "May I help you ma'am." :-) (That beat the "Sir" I got earlier...)

The end result is the card above (I just "edited" the name, address, ID & signature. The rest of the card - including the picture, is as issued, today!!!). My old name is still on the card, but the gender marker is correct now! (I've not transitioned full time, but my shrink and more importantly my wife agreed I could take this important step as it's just a matter of time!

I'm a VERY happy girl!
