Road to Myself - 3: A Major Step
Annette MacGregor

A major milestone passed today... And, I felt the need to share it with my friends.

Driver's License - Image removed since it shows my REAL face and showed up on Google Images.
[Author: The above image WAS of my current (at the time) Driver's License - I removed the Image since it shows my REAL face and showed up on Google Images - and I'm not out yet... As I get close to actual transition, I don't want to take too many chances and flub things. Sorry.]

I spent several hours (in lines) at the MVC (Motor Vehicle Commission) office today... Everyone was quite nice. When I got to the last counter, I was greeted "May I help you ma'am." :-) (That beat the "Sir" I got earlier...)

The end result is the card above (I just "edited" the name, address, ID & signature. The rest of the card - including the picture, is as issued, today!!!). My old name is still on the card, but the gender marker is correct now! (I've not transitioned full time, but my shrink and more importantly my wife agreed I could take this important step as it's just a matter of time!

I'm a VERY happy girl!

re: New DL

Hi

Congratulations - seems like things are going right for you. I wonder how long before you get the card changed again for the new name.

Again, well done and wow

Montclair, New Jersey?

Andrea Lena's picture

Obviously a fictional locale, as are the far flung burgs of Verona, and of course, Caldwell, birthplace of the only President from New Jersey, Grover Cleveland. Seriously, congratulations. Now Serving B 231. Now Serving B 231.....Yay, successfully negotiating not only the demands of documentation for you but you didn't spend more than a day at the MVC.

She was born for all the wrong reasons but grew up for all the right ones.
