Great idea. How do you keep it as the last thing in the book as you add chapters?

Is it that Character comes after Chapter in alphabetical listing?

The alphabetical list that would normally be used can be over-ridden using weighting, it's necessary for '10' to appear after '9' instead of after '1' for example. I use a weighting of 1 for that, '100' would need a weighting of 2 to force it after '99'.

In this case I have the character index a weighting of 2, but could change it to 3 if necessary to keep it where it is.

If you write stories, all this is part of the 'Add a story' facility.

Such a handy tool that I must make one for Venus in Transit which I'm writing 'on the fly'. That means the plot is evolving so it would be easy for a character to wake up in the wrong bed, not for plot reasons but from 'author confusion'!

Having made a Character Index, I see no problem with editing to add a character.
