Forget the Get Rich Quick idea. Don't believe in If You Build it They Will Come fantasy. Selling a story is a business. You want to start a restaurant so you find a really "CHEAP" barn to lease. You refurbish it, put all the equipment in it, hire help, and..., wait for customers who never show. (Kinda kin to posting on Amazon)

Writing the novel was the easy part even if it took you years to pen that next War and Peace or Gone With the Wind. Getting it out there and being paid real money for your talents takes business intelligence which sadly most writers do NOT have. That's why writers need agents and publishers to take care of the promotions. It is why singers need agents to take care of the promotions. It is why inventors need agents to take care of promotions.

But sadly, most writers are unknown. The public not only doesn't buy books from unknown, agents and publishers seldom touch unknown.

Now that I rained on your parade with the truth; the other side of the coin. It is possible to become a Best Seller with perseverance and determination. You thought it was worth the effort to write. Do you think it is worth the effort to publish? Then PUSH it out there with a plan. Contact writer's agents, publishers in your genre, and don't take rejection as a no. Be a vacuum cleaner salesman. They can tell you no a hundred times. All they have to do is say yes one time.
