I thought with all that has been happening I'd provide a small exerpt from one of the stories I'm writing. Understand I haven't truly edited it and its still raw. But so you all know Mel is 13 and Dwayne is 14.

Lisa walked into the apartment when she heard the voices coming from the bedroom. That's right shove that piston in. Mel said.

Do you think I used enough lube? The boy asked.

I hope so I don't want it to be scorched. Oh god that feels good. Pump it some more.

Listening the conversation seemed to get worse.

Thats it pump it faster. Oh yeah, perfect.

Slowly she made her way to the bedroom.

Man this feels weird, I never expected to be pumping your crankshaft like this.

You keep this up you can pump my shaft anytime buster.

Dammit it the head popped out. Dwayne complained.

Is that liquid coming out? Mel asked gravely concerned.

Having heard enough Lisa entered the bedroom to find both Dwayne and Mel working on the motor for her minibike. Parts strewed all over the room

What have I told you about working on that engine in the house Mel?

Mom its raining outside, How else can I get my motor running?

Suddenly without reason Mel and Lisa started laughing when they saw the look on Dwayne's face.

Been there done that

Rebuilt the bike in the kitchen when the parents were on holiday.

Leaving the metal tray that I'd used to heat up the crankcases so that I could change the main bearings in the oven gave the game away.
The bike was a BSA C15 250cc and took place just about this time of year in 1971 because I took it on the ferry from Southampton to Bilbao on the 10th Sept. Sadly the rebuild didn't last. It threw a 'rod' in Extramadura about 10 days later. I just pushed it into a ditch and hitched to Bilbao.
Ah, the memories.

Love the story by the way

"Laugh and the World Laughs With You, Weep and You Weep Alone"

Ib12us,

You are possibly even a saint. What is missing in today's world, imho, is the position of Court Jester. Every President or King or Secretary General or Supreme Leader or Prime Minister, every Pope or Archbishop or Imam or Chief Rabbi, every CEO or Boss, every Mayor or Chairman or Chairwoman, they ALL should have someone beside or behind them to save the day when all those who think their opinions are important or that they are omnipotent or omniscient, feel belittled, by stepping into the fray and making everyone laugh.

It is my carefully considered opinion that the entire Universe is just a Joke. No other explanation fits all the totally ridiculous conflicting collection of accumulated data we have assembled to try to understand it and what it is for or how it came to be the way it is.

May you be blessed !

To see the funny part and to get people to laugh at it, reduces ALL problems down to a nano size and unimportance that they really are.

It seems impossible to be able to stay feeling angry or hurt or insulted at the same time as one is driven to laugh.

I hope more people write something funny quickly and diffuse the current atmosphere here. We are not nearly as bad as those who meet in the UN or travel to St Petersburg and who are still trying to pretend they know what they are doing in Syria or a thousand other places where they have taken themselves syriously ( I mean seriously of course )
but it is time to have a laugh now, so your tale was just the thing !
