eBooks for my stories

Well, a while back I uploaded eBooks for my stories 'Incompatible' and 'Transfigured' (both the original and revised version) here on the site.

Here today I got to looking at them and found myself a little unsatisfied with the way they looked so I spent several hours reformatting and fine-tuning them. While I was at it I also created an eBook for my DarkRealms story 'Hunger Pangs' and 'Destiny' (which I will be uploading once I'm finished posting it).

In the off chance someone wants to download them they are attached to the story or organizer page for the story in question. I'll also provide links to them here.

eBooks:

Hunger Pangs: ( PDF | EPUB )
Incompatible: ( PDF | EPUB )
Transfigured (original): ( PDF | EPUB )
Transfigured (revised): ( PDF | EPUB )

CDN.QNEZ.NET

Anyone wondering about that address, that's our cloud server. If you upload certain kinds of files onto BC, we actually load them onto the cloud server to keep the load off the server used for daily stuff. So far, the cloud server services are costing us about $12 bucks a month, so not bad.

Erin

For me

I figured as much, but then again I already knew that CDN is an acronym for 'Content Delivery Network'. ;)

Have delightfully devious day,

Thank You!

While I love BC, saving it's stories onto my tablet is probematical (sp?), and having your work in epub format makes it so very easy.

I do so wish that of all the modules that the site offers, that one producing epubs was installed here! ( hint, hint ).

Again, thanks a lot!

Well

Daniela Wolfe's picture

You're welcome.

I actually did it because I find doing stuff like that to be fun. ^_^

Have delightfully devious day,

kindle them

Put them on kindle, you can still charge nothing. Join the club, succumb to peer pressure!! DO IT! DO IT NOW! DON'T BE A WUSS! YOU'LL BE COOLER!

I've been tempted

I've been tempted, but the thing that keeps stopping me is my wish to remain anonymous.

Have delightfully devious day,

publish

YOu can publish under the name of D.A.W. just like I publish under the name K.T. Leone.

Hmmm...

Hmmm... Did not know that. I'll give it some thought.

Have delightfully devious day,

Kindle format

D.A.W., you can use Calibre to convert EPUB to MOBI(Mobi is the Kindle format), and then offer Kindle-compatible files to go along with the EPUBS and PDFs.

Calibre is free, will convert just about any format to any other (HTML, EPUB, MOBI, PDF, RTF, DOC, etc), and will import to a Kindle, Nook, or most other readers.

Thanks,

Daniela Wolfe's picture

Thanks, but I knew that as I use Calibre in the creation process for making my eBooks. The only reason I didn't include MOBI files here is because they are a proprietary format unique to the Kindle family. While PDF is a proprietary format, it's one that's nearly universally recognized across the web.

Have delightfully devious day,

Kindles

The problem with the Kindle is that you need a... Kindle to read it and that locks you in to a restricted format and control by Amazon. No thank you.

What DAW has done is use two internationally recognized formats which most eBook readers can accept, possibly including Kindles.

The best use for a Kindle is as kindling.

Incorrect - Penny Lane

You do not need a kindle to read kindle files. In fact, there are Kindle reader programs for the PC and the android that I know of (and I assume mac and Iphone. But you know what they says when one assumes, you make an ass out of Uma Thurman).

I have the kindle reader on my computer and my phone and I love it. Yes, you are locked into Amazon (not really because I have a mobi file converter, also). And it is another avenue to make your stories available. I love Amazon. Most of my book sales are on Amazon (as in I've sold 50 books on Amazon, 2 on Lulu and 0 on Smashwords) I think the interface is better on the Amazon website.

Kindle apps

Daniela Wolfe's picture

Yep there are Kindle apps for Mac, iOS devices (iTouch, iPad, & iPhone), Windows 7 Phone, Windows PC, Android and Blackberry.

Have delightfully devious day,

Sorry Stan

Sorry Stan, but printing paperbacks cost money. I'm providing these ebooks free.
