I haven't seen this appear anywhere here yet, so I don't think that the word has spread here yet....

Spread the word to attempt to halt ABC's ill advised comedy "Work it". This show, if it makes it to Air, will poke fun at the real issues that Trasngender people face in gaining acceptance in life. This show needs to be stopped before it goes any further...

Not sure

I've seen bits of a commercial or two, but I tend to tune out commercials. I got the idea this was a scripted comedy show, sort of a steal from "Some Like It Hot". I know, already been done. But has anybody ever accused American TV of originality?

NOT a "Reality Show" !

ABC's new SCRITPED show is not a "reality show - it's a sit-com!

Reminds me of the show that launched Tom Hanks - a show about two guys that dress as girls to get a cheap appartment, this is just a twist so the guys can get jobs.

Not REALITY - also not anything about the TG community. They are not pretending to be TG, their pretending to be women to get a job.

I predect that it will not last 4 episodes ( 1 month )!

Nothing to get our panties in a twist over!

New Reality Show

The original shows tend to get cancelled too soon or get tinkered with by Nitwork Execs to be more like the usual formula television...

Yes, it is really stupid

But maybe it will infuse a bit of humor into a situation that is way too tense. Or not.

Looked reallty BAD

...from what I saw of it. ABC shows the commercials, during General Hospital. At least the guys on Bosom Buddies looked more like girls as opposed to this new show which just doesn't seemed to have casted men who can pull it off. There isn't anything feminine other than clothes and wigs...you still have to have some inner femininity to draw upon, and I just don't see any.

Agree completely!

This show is simply going to sink and no one will ever have paid it much mind except maybe as a passing "Remember when ABC attempted to put out a sitcom about those salesmen trying to be saleswomen? That was so stupid! They alienated feminists, the transgender community, and both their supporters all in one fell swoop."

Stupid but...

I don't think it has anything to do with transgender at all.

From what I'm getting from the synopsis and the current ad clips, these are just normal hetero guys who recently lost their sales jobs, need to get new jobs, and are finding that no one wants to hire salesmen, only saleswomen. So what do they do? They dress in drag of course! Supposed comedy ensues.

Anyways, it's definitely not a reality show, it has all the trademark feel of a fully scripted sitcom. If anything, feminists should be more outraged at this than us.

No Go Show

Since Bosom Buddies television has not paid any particular attention to what works and what doesn't. Television today is C R A P, so the new show may make it through a minimum of three performances or the fourth before they are cut.
If the premis to make to guy look like women, then they should have cast two guys who could have pulled it off.
It's sending a message that management is so blind they don't even recognize their future employees. I'd like to see the two end up at clown college in Florida.
On another note Tuesday the 20th I will be speaking to Delawares Department of Safety and Homeland Securtiy (now there an oxymoron). I will be talking about Gender Identity Disorder (Their use of the words) to the department secretaries of those departments under the auspices of DDS&HLS.
The presentations have always gone well and opened up some minds to get them to function in the proper manner of which a mind should function.

And how is demanding this program be "stopped" because it offends us any different than this bullshit?

Well-intentioned enemies of the First Amendment are a far graver danger to our society than this stinker of a show;
which I predict will follow the last great threat to the transgender community---the tasteless
ill-conceived film TICKED OFF TRANNIES WITH KNIVES---into obscurity soon enuff...

Now, what hidden agenda? I read Ronnie's link, and couldn't help asking "Which American values?"

The concept of the Manifest Destiny of the White Man, perhaps? I believe that was rather fundamental to the founding and expansion of the USA...

This is no snipe at those over the pond, rather a pointed hint that sad loons like these have some very selective memories as well as rather self-serving blind spots in their vision.

Television transmission

I believe this was linked to earlier, and I wrote a longish reply about reinforcing stereotypes, but it seems to have vanished.

Don't Watch Network

The last network series I watched was ST/Voyager. Cheers, MASH, Dr.Who, The Honeymooners and the previous three ST also come to mind. Even without these comments I wouldn't watch the series. My preference: reading and movies, especially romances, Judaica and science.

Take a step back...

...and let me play devil's advocate a bit here.

Yes, this seems stupid, and I understand that people can be offended by it. The fact that it's a mid-season does not bode well (I remember that Simpsons episode where Homer was looking forward for the mid-seasons... and they all stunk).

But then... how many stories have I seen in TG sites with exactly the same premise? Guy dresses as a girl to get a job? Must be hundreds. I mean... isn't it a bit hypocritical to accept the concept in TG fiction sites, but bash it on mainstream TV?

And it's not like it's the first time Hollywood goes there, either. I mean, what about "Tootsie?" "Mrs. Doubtfire?" Isn't it exactly the same concept? I don't remember TG activists hating those. But then, I'm not really

In the end, what matters is execution. It probably will be stupid, lowbrow, offensive and will crash and burn horribly. But then, there is just a small chance that it won't be like that. It happens, sometimes. "Seinfeld" was a mid-season, was different enough that it looked like a big gamble likely to fail... and look how far it went.
