ABC Telivision Show Two Weeks Ago

Hi,

There was a segment of one of those ABC news shows about two weeks ago about a family where the husband came out to his family and transitioned. I was unable to watch it; however, from the promos, it seemed to be handled well. Does anyone knoww of a link where I might be able to view it. I was somewhere over the Atlantic when it came on and the plane didn't carry it.

There was quite a "Gay Pride" parade in Stockholm while we were there. It got a lot of attention in the news and I would imagine several hundred thousand watched it. A friend who doesn't have a clue posed, "Why would any city take the trouble to allow a parade for a bunch of gay people?" My response was something to the effect of why wouuld they allow a parade for a bunch of straight people.

We noticed something that we have seen in the past. I haven't seen it in the US of A. It usually happens around a park or market. A young couple, hetero or gay, will start passionately making out. They are very demonstrative and attention getting. It is a ploy used by pickpockets to get ones attention, maybe even getting to someone take the time to take a picture or two. This time it was a heavily tatooed and handsome young man who greeted a 'beautiful' young man with open arms. They were on a street corner in a very crowded area and went into a lip lock that lasted forever. I am sure member(s) of their group were checking out the likely victims. There are signs warning people of pickpockets.

Recently an associate was on a train from Rome to Florence when he was accosted by a group of teenage 'school girls' in school uniforms. They claimed he was in their seat and hassled him for a while until they realized they were in the 'wrong car'. They got of at the next stop with his train tickets and wallet. Fortunately, he had his passport and credit card in a pocket inside his shirt. The young man learned a valuable lesson.

If you are writing about the ABC Primetime, Family Secrets episode I have a copy I recorded to DVD. Don't know how I would get it to you though. Often the networks offer programming online, however I don't know if this has been or will be available.

That's the one Vicky. I'll see if I can search ABC for it. I wonder if anyone else recorded it? Was it an OK presentation?

nope. thanks for playing. hulu is very specifically geotargeted (through akamai) and cannot be viewed where licenses for the content apply (eg outside the usa).

not as think as i smart i am

Primetime

I thought it was decently done. ABC's getting better on producing news shows focusing on trans content... not as sensationalistic as they had in years past.

I did read where there's going to be another Primetime I think at the end of August on another traswoman, this time an heir to a vast family fortune and *very* old money (the family owned the great race horse Man O' War) is going to get the snip and move to India to live among the hirja.

6 1/2 Minute Excerpt vs. Full Program

I watched the 6.5 min excerpt. Is it worth watching the whole program? I have to install the ABC viewer to watch the whole program (which I'm not keen to do).

I thought it was well done

I went ahead and installed the plug in and watched the whole thing. I thought it was very well done.

High Quality Video

After Kristine's recommendation (thanks again Kristy) I installed the video plugin to Firefox and watched the complete show. The standard definition video was very good played full screen on my 14 inch laptop. Widescreen hi definition is also available. The plugin installed and played without problems and is easily removable.

Thanks to everyone for the information. Here's her website http://www.pinkessence.com/ . It appears to be very interesting. Her personal comments about what ABC left out or misinterpreted are very interesting also.

Idiot

Leave it to me to be the sole disenter, but I'm gonna say it anyhow. Can't really quarrel with the transition, which is by the way the most natural one I have ever seen. However, the x wife wants her to stay, and I think she should. There is a lot more than personal happiness here.

I think she has an obigation to those two little children.

If I had been given the chance to stay, I'd have done it and been very happy. Call me a bitch if you want, but that is the way I feel.

Refer her to my webpage. www.ChloePrince.com

The Blog I wrote has the links to all the footage at the bottom of the Blog where I reviewed the experience.

Heres a short cut to that Blog entry.

Thanks - Great Comments From Chloe

Definitely worth reading. Adds background and understanding to what was aired.

Alert to Everyone: There are links down the right hand side of Chloe's page. The final one is a video of Keith Olbermann's incredible comments ("Gay Marriage is a Question of Love"} about the gay marriage vote in California from last November. It's something not to be missed if you haven't seen it.

Yes, it was very well done. The ending almost begged for a sequel.
