Before shutting down here, I decided to upgrade to the Firefox 4. That was an hour and a half ago. Mozilla really screwed the pooch this time! Lots of cosmetic crap that wasn't necessary and really screws up the layout. Several of my most used apps won't work with FF4 It took me less than 5 minutes to decide to go back to the previous version. That's when the fun begin. Uninstalling FF4 did not roll back to the previous version, and no matter what version I tried to download I always ended up with FF4 again. Finally found an older version archived on another website and got something close to what I had before.
You know what else is interesting? I couldn't find anyplace to give feedback to Mozilla! Apparently if you are unhappy they don't want to know about it.
AVOID FIREFOX 4!

Moving away from Firefox
I have been a long standing Firefox user, pretty much from the beginning. A couple of months ago I got a chance to try Chrome on our church computer. It was different at first, but as I used it, I got to really like it.
All of the add-ons and such that I liked with FF have Chrome versions. And, since I use a number of different computers, it allows me to synch them all to the same preferred settings.
It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but if FF is really messing up, this is worth checking out.

Installed FF4 today
And so far, I'm impressed and happy with it. My experiences with Chrome have been less than stellar, FF4 has all the features that Chrome added.

If you prefer Win XP, DO NOT INSTALL IE9, either
Good ol' Monopolysoft set it up so it will not work with Win XP, to try and force you to Windows 7.

I have Windows 7 on this computer, and am seriously thinking of 'UPGRADING to XP', as I did on my Vista Laptop.

M$ has a long history of not making their newest versions backwardly compatible. I think you have to go all the way back to IE5 if you have Win98.
I understand that Win7 is their best ever. I have a copy on my laptop, but I triple-boot with Linux Mint and Ubuntu ArtistX, so I have used Win7 very little.

Windows 7 is a HUGE improvement over the train wreck that was Vista. Having said that, if I had absolute choice I would still be using XP if for no other reason than RAM usage (since my lappy currently uses around 800 Mb of RAM even when just idling,) but the drivers are hard to find for my hardware so *shrug*.
Overall I'm happy with it, though.
On the other hand, I'm not sure if I'm excited about FireFox 4 at all. It's taken me a while to get my current FireFox set up comfortably, and as is I've got it strangely done: I keep my computer's Start menu at the top of my screen, and I have an addon for Firefox that moves the tab menu to the bottom, with the loading bar embedded in my address bar. It's a setup I like, but it looks like it is one that FF4 would tamper with.

In common with most companies, Mozilla don't provide built-in facilities to give feedback on the release version of their software (although strangely, the feedback button still resides on mine - probably because I've done incremental upgrades from beta 6). However, the first public beta of Firefox 4 was released on July 16th, and even before then there were plenty of hints as to the visual direction FF4 would go (tabs on top, replacing the menu bar with a single orange button, removing a lot of the navigation buttons, turning off the status bar by default etc.) They've aped Google's Chrome a lot in the development - browser manufacturers have an obsession with freeing up as much vertical screen space as possible for the content, and claim using the space for menu bars / toolbar buttons / status bars is ugly and takes up too much space.
Most of the main add-ons have been upgraded to work with Firefox 4 release, but be aware that some add-ons may take a while to achieve compatibility - either because the developer is cautious and was waiting for the final version before upgrading their code (so they wouldn't have to keep revising it to cope with browser code changes), or the developer codes in their spare time, and has been busy with other stuff.
It does take a bit of getting used to, but (as always) can be tweaked. For example, Status-4-Evar restores status bar functionality in the new Add-on bar (which also resides at the bottom of the screen), and there are plenty of other add-ons / Stylish scripts to customise the interface.

The main tweaks you can see are Colorful Tabs (Self explanatory), Omnibar (combines the Awesome Bar and Search Bar), Status-4-Evar and Stylish.
The User styles I'm using are: 1 Design of Tab (Both sides are rounded), Tab Color Underscoring active/read/unread (Fx3.6), WellRounded 4 and a small script of DIY tweaks.

I downloaded 4.0 beta a couple of weeks back, no issues that I see, but I don't run boatload of add-ons either, just ABP and EPUB.
The feedback report tab is under "Help" called "Submit Feedback" at the top of your page,to report issues or regular feedback. From what I saw, at the time 4.0 was/is still a beta version where you can expect issues. The only issue I had with it was it dumped one of my "Most Visited" sites, which annoying, but what can you do?
