Sounds like you are the victim of spyware. If you use manga fox sites or others they are loaded with spyware. You need to get a descent spyware blocker such as spysweeper from webroot. I have included instructions below that should help.

Then click on Advanced tab and scroll down to under the Browsing Option:
[&] Browsing
[ ] Enable Third-Party browser extensions (Req Rest) uncheck this box.
Then click on Programs Tab and click Manage Add-Ons and Disable all non
Verified Add-Ons (You should Renable them later one-by-one and see the
culprit and update it or remove it.

It is a long road ahead but I will finally become who I should be.

try pressing the CTRL and F5

try pressing the CTRL and F5 buttons at the same time when looking at this 'first page'. My guess if this page turns into a not responding page after this is that your web connection is not working properly. If it does load i have no idea unless the first page is on your local computer somewhere.

not responding

I had same problem after Microsoft jammed IE8 down my gullet. I never resolved it and went back to IE7. If you are a new IE8 user and are experiencing this.....recently I was told by my ISP of all people that it's easily fixable. Install IE8, reboot twice, go to control panel and tell IE8 to repair itself, reboot. I can't remember the exact steps but if you like I will look them up. After researching all the IE8 problems I am sticking with IE7. Hugs, Carol Anne

Hmm - encountered this before

Which is why i don't use Microsoft operating systems anymore, just too bloody unreliable. Some spyware is insinuating however and has to be unhooked manually from the registry. If it was me, I would try running a linux distro straight from the CD (requires no install and is free, esp. Ubuntu) and test that the internet works fine. If that is the case, Windows requires some serious fixing.

Sorry - the techie in me comes out to play sometimes.

Be happy and take care - Jay

Unless there is truth in my heart, my every effort is doomed to failure....

That which does not kill me only serves to delay the inevitable. My blog => http://jaynemorose.wordpress.com/ <= note new address

long shot but are you running Vista

long shot but are you running Vista.. If so you might be running into the infamous Auto-Tuning problem..

Auto tuning is a new optimizer microsoft add to Vista which on paper is great. It dynamically re-size the tcp/ip receive Window for each open stream in respect to the current network load and number of tcp/ip streams open... Problem is the constant changing of the receive window on countless number of tcp/ip streams can cause a lot of home router gear to complete lockup. some of the symptoms are the inability to open new tcp/ip streams.. i.e. to load a new web page enough though some of your other network app are working i.e. messenger. or random connection issue where it works one moment then fails the next.

anyways if you are running vista give this command are try at command line

netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled

if this doesn't help you can reactive autotunning with this

netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=normal

Also you need to be running under an admin account

Thank you

Thank you for that info, darkice, it's nice to know there are so many people out there, Who like to help a computer dunce like me!!
