In Search of Jennifer Adams

I don't know how many people are aware, but I'm trying to help Ms. Joyce with some things involving the site. Part of that help includes organizing new authors and/or books to come out on Doppler.

Well, we have a great writer lined up to join the ranks of those we've helped get published, but there's one problem: one of her stories, quite an excellent one, that she wants to publish uses the Altered Fates/Medallion of Zullo universe.

And thus, the rights game begins!

I've scoured our little section of the internet (read: spent about half an hour searching stuff,) and it doesn't seem that Jennifer Adams is active anywhere any more, nor is the only email address I've been able to find for her functioning. Heck, last time I see her having posted anywhere was like 2008, which has some Bad Implications, but also might mean absolutely nothing, given it's the internet.

As such, I'm reaching out to our community here for help!

1. Does anyone personally know Jennifer or what has become of her?

2. What I've found of the rules for AF/MoZ says nothing about book publication rights. If anyone knows of a more up-to-date *official* listing for the rules that clarifies this, it would be helpful.

3. If none of this works out... how would folks feel about helping us work up a drop-in replacement for AF elements to remove the question of universe rights from the equation?

Right now, question 1 is the big priority, since it's the best option of the 3. Question 2 would be nice to have an answer to, but depending on where/who the rules come from, might not be binding enough to actually mean anything. Number 3 is a last-ditch resort, but if the first two fail, might be a good option for the community as a whole, since an entirely "open source" option would let more than just us spread stories about.

Thanks for y'all's help with this, I appreciate it!

Have you tried

the message boards at Fictionmania? Someone there may know.

I'm not actually a member of the community over there.

I've popped over to FM on occasion to see if there was anything interesting we didn't get over here, but BC has always been *my* community.

Perhaps I need to change that, and expand my participation?

Not much there, but...

I have a folder in my bookmarks that I open the whole folder in tabs every morning. It includes BCTS, Fictionmania and Storysite, The latter is a leftover from when it was an active site. I open them in reverse order, leaving BCTS last. Of course Storysite never has anything new so odds are that I just close that tab. I then skim through Fictionmania and open what looks interesting in tabs, then go to BCTS where I get interactive with the community. Quite often, I'll find some of the stories on Fictionmania here. If I do, I'll open it in a new tab and close the FM tab for that story. I'd rather read it here where I can click a kudo and or leave a comment or even PM the author.

But the point is there are a few things on FM that don't make it over here, so I always look.

Hugs
Patricia

It's not much, but...

I found a couple links that may be a little help.

First is her bio page on Fictionmania (https://fictionmania.tv/author/readbio.html?authorlink=1350), where she notes that she "decided to offer Altered Fates as an open universe." She lists her email address as [email protected], but since the site is dead, I suspect that won't work.

I also saw a thread on Metamorphose.org (https://metamorphose.org/thread/show.htp?threadid=11566&page...) where she reiterates that it's an open universe and gives two other email addresses, at [email protected] and [email protected]

I didn't see anything specific about publication rights, but hopefully that helps a little...

Thanks a ton!

I'll see what I can do with this info. I really appreciate it.
