not literally but the household has been beset with Covid.

Quite why it should strike us now, or even where/how we picked it up despite everyone still masking and being fully vaccinated, is anyones guess. I've had a quite torrid week with it, Aunty Bev maybe a bit less but a few days behind. The good news is that i'm back to @ 90% of where i was pre sickness.

Not a lot to tell you then, i barely left my sick bed until Friday, a 30 minute walk each day was enough to send me scurrying back. Saturday i was feeling better, enough to set off on the bike, the plan was to see how i felt on a circuit with plenty of escape routes back to base. In the end i did 100km of steady, fairly level riding and whilst a bit fatigued, it went remarkably well.

Rather than walk today, i thought i'd do an hour or so on the bike again. It went pretty much the same as yesterday but despite being less than a third of the distance, i was less well afterwards. Yes i want to get better soonest but sometimes you just need to be patient.

It has been pointed out that half of Gaby Book 1 is absent from Big Closet, well starting on Wednesday i'll be posting the missing chapters at the rate of one a week to correct that omission.

Today i have posted Fame chapter 24 for your enjoyment, Bent not Broken tackles the aftermath of our heroines fall.

Thats all for now,
Tschuss

To all in your household

get well soon.
Don't try to do too much too soon.
Samantha

PS... you aren't unclean unless you are ringing a bell to tell the world. :)

Feel Better

It seems a lot of people are still coming up positive. We've been lucky 4 shots in and still wear masks, and so far no covid. It's been quite a while since I had been visiting this site, but picked back up on Gabyverse, and am I can say not only caught up, but anxiously awaiting each and every installment. Thank you so much for bringing Gaby to us!

This comes up a lot

Vaccines are to help people not get as sick from Covid. It does not prevent you from getting it more than once. I don’t know of any government or health authority that has said Covid is over either. Masks were never a guarantee either since more than have the spread is due to touch.

That said I can relate. Went for two hour ride of about 20km while humidity was around 85% ,sweat a ton and was pretty tired but also not tired. I wasn’t going fast due to gusty wind but still felt good to get out.

Both of you get well.

A lot of covid deniers used

leeanna19's picture

A lot of covid deniers used the argument that someone who had had the vaccine and still got ill., proved it was fake.
As you say, the vaccine just helps your body recognise the virus so you can fight it off quicker than without it. It's like a wanted criminal coming to your town. The vaccine is like a wanted poster. Your body can recognise it and take it out quickly,, before it does harm. Often without you even knowing it.

Covid has a pesky habit of changing, so your body takes a little longer to mount a defence.

While I think anyone who can cycle 100km is amazingly fit Maddy, you may want to give your body a chance to recover.

Get well soon

Get well soon I can’t wait for book 5 of the smell of the crowd

Take it steady..

Lucy Perkins's picture

I'm really glad to hear that you are feeling better, but from bitter personal experience with this dratted virus, take it steady, duck.
When we had it in May, it took about three weeks before we had our hillwalking stamina back. You'd be fine and then suddenly, "wham" * nothing in the tank.
* Not a reference to the popular beat combo if the 1980s. Last Christmas and all that.
All the very best. Lucy xx

Maddy, you are amazing, tough as old boots. Externally anyway!
