I mentioned yesterday it was warmer so I left home as the snow was falling this morning!

But not for long, with a stiff south westerly I headed east and ended up the wrong side of the Trent for a bit! The temperature got to a dizzying 4c I think!

Well after 80km of mostly tailwind I stopped for some grease at Saundby (you remember that stop Podracer?) which is 60km from home, 60km of headwind today. I had sort of planned on catching a train at least part way back but my inner Gaby got the better of me so I ended up with 140km (87 miles) on the clock, my longest ride since last October.

Guess that'll teach me, next time i'll buy a train ticket in advance then i'll have to use it!

Usually I spend the ride going through the latest Gaby etc, tuning the story in my head. Not today, I spent most of the 5.75hrs riding recalling races of old on these roads - oh and avoiding pot holes!

Back to actual writing tomorrow,

Which brings me to something i've been musing on this week. Although each Gaby book does have some sort of main trip/event it's often just one part of an 'Eton Mess' of stories going on. Most fiction I read only has one thread with maybe some loose bits connecting volumes.

So am I putting too many threads in each volume? What do you lot think?

I love that style of storytelling. :)

No, you are doing fantastic

It seems to me that the recent books have fewer threads, anyway.

Besides there are so many threads I'd like to follow. Mom's career post racing, Gaby's career/school, what's going on with her friends, singing, racing. There's so much interesting stuff going on.

Though my favorite parts are the races.

Book has something like ten separate threads!

My worry is that some threads get left behind/forgotten to return as mere cameos when they deserve much more.

And story lines add considerably to the overall story - keep it up Hon! It makes it much more enjoyable to read and interesting to follow. It also means that you are constantly pulling old characters back into the story, which is something that many authors don’t do.

Don’t stop now!

Like some of the other commenters, I like the multiple threads in the Gaby saga. If some of them hide for a while it just changes the flavour, and refreshes it when they resurface.
Yes I remember, very welcome calorie station :) caught it on the way home last time as well.
