When am I going to learn not to read the comments at YAHOO NEWS? After reading a dozen or so vituperations from ignorant swine saying this girl "needs therapy, not mutilating his genitals" and that "the parents should be jailed for child abuse" I left a comment of my own:

So where is this magical "therapy" you all are saying transgender people need instead of getting surgery and living as their true selves. IT DOESN'T EXIST. Trans people who listen to small-minded bigots can use every sort of psychic voodoo you devise convince themselves they're satisfied living as the sex you force them into for only so long, before they realize the only people they're making happy are YOU!!! YOU need them to not be transgender, not them. And what have you ever done for them besides call them freaks? They realize there is nothing to be gained from trying to live their lives for YOU. This is why there are so many later life transitions like Caitlyn Jenner. Who would have been a lot better off doing what this smart girl is doing about something that isn't going to be prayed or denied or "reparative" quack-therapied away...
