... Simple math on the number of contest entries (115 is the most recent number I've seen), times the minimum entry length, says we have dump-er-inflict-er-deluge -er- "sent" our Judges well over 277,500, to perhaps around a half million words!
Plus comments. And our responses. And Contest reminders and 'house-keeping' ...

With a second and third read for a lot of the stories the numbers you mentioned can be doubled.
From the amount of comments, kudos, and hits, its apparent a lot of people are trying to read all of the stories.
There's still time to enter, and a lot of time before the awards are announced to sample the contenders.

new chapters of ongoing stories as well as new stories unrelated to the contest.
We have been a super creative bunch so far this year!
It boggles the mind
I'm glad I'm not one of the judges. The shear number of entries is enough for me to make that statement. I read a lot, but with that number of stories to be read in a six week period... you have to ask yourself, what with judging and promoting, do the judges have a life outside the contest?
I had that kind of involvement in the production of "One Dozen Roses" and it took a bit of decompression when it was done. When ODR was posted, it left a hole in my time on BCTS. At least our judges aren't also trying to write entries as well as judge them.
Ladies, my hats off to you and I admire greatly your effort to increase traffic here on BCTS.

At the beginning of the contest I tried to read them all, but quickly realized I was just not going to be able to keep up. I have read a number of them, and have been impressed. I know I have missed on some others that are excellent.
My total respect to Jill and Emma for their efforts. And to Joanne for reading thru all of the comments as well!
So worthwhile!
It’s taken a lot of time, because we’ve owed all of the authors the same care and attention they’ve poured into their stories. But it hasn’t really been work. I’ve read new stories by some of my favorite authors, and been exposed to authors I’ve never read before, and gotten the chance to collaborate with Jill Rasch and Joanne Barbarella multiple times every day. That’s not work, it’s a privilege. And, most of all, I’ve had the chance to be part of something we are all doing together as a community.
It doesn’t get better than that.

Being Retired Helps
I can honestly say I've read every story entered in the competition and still managed to keep up with most of my favourites who have kept on posting without entering our competition.
I've found it the easiest way too, to keep track of the comments. My moment of sheer terror comes after the submission of stories is finished.

It really has been, and still is, fun. What is great is the outpouring of support from all of you out there who have entered, commented and kudosed, and remember, it ain't over till the fat lady sings.
