I'm not sure if I'll have time to write Bike this week.

I have had two reports of bereavement in the last few days with the funeral process tomorrow taking up most of the day. As they say, one sign of old age is going to more funerals than weddings. One is my elderly neighbour, who at 97 years old could be seen as inevitable, the other a good friend and widow of an even better friend, who died some years ago. This good lady died from a stroke, which given my own experience of a similar affliction, makes it even more poignant.

If I have time I will write something but it may well be shorter and hurried, so patience please - oh I forgot, nobody reads my stuff anyway.

Permission granted for absence, If needed

I find it hard to imagine a week without "Bike", but sometimes things from elsewhere require priority. On the other hand, funerals are for the survivors - the main subject can no longer express a view. But grieving in company is better than bottling it up.

Nobody?

I'm used to being called a nobody, but rarely by one of my favourite authors!
I am so sorry that you have list two friends in a week.

I'm A Nobody

One of several hundred who read EAFOAB every week. It will be missed for one week but funerals don't respect writing deadlines (sorry, not meant to be a pun).

As we get older we see friends and relatives die around us. We can only be thankful that we remain to keep their memories alive.
