In the Scottish courts they are actually debating this, Women for Scotland, partly funded by JKRowling, are trying to overturn the 2004 law of someone with a gender recognition certificate ( such as me) shouldn't have the same status as biological females. Read the article and see how at least one judge sticks to her principles, I admire and respect her.

I’ve gained a lot of respect for the Guardian as a newspaper over the last few years. They seem to do reasonably good journalism in comparison to the Murdoch owned Times.
I hope the court doesn’t accept this specious argument and further chip away at Trans rights.

If she has always been this big of an asshole, or did it just come out once she had a lot of money and popularity?
Of course, the other part of this question is would she have gained as much popularity as an author if she had made her feelings known years ago - before her books sold?
I will say this much, my middle son was very much into her books - we bought him all of them. Not to mention taking all three of my sons to the first few movies. This was before she outed herself as a massive TERF.
If I knew then what I know now, I wouldn’t have spent a dime on anything associated with her name. In all honesty, I wouldn’t piss on the woman if she was on fire.

Lack of Understanding
If we don't start sharing what we know and why we are, we are going to keep losing every single contest we are inadvertently dragged into. Trying to reason with bigotry, hatred, ignorance, and fear isn't cutting it. Does the public ask to outlaw someone who is blind? Do they ask to put those who are deaf or mute into prison camps? The girl who was born missing both arms, should she be recycled because she's not a perfect female?
Coming back and trying to debate ignorance in life and the courts with nothing more than claiming, "I'm a girl, or I'm a boy, or I'm human isn't working. Spain researchers have proven an MRI can detect the difference between male and female brains. AI can detect the difference between male and female brain development with better than ninety percent accuracy. The Scandinavian Lab dissected hundreds of M and F, Gay, Lesbian, and transgender brains. Their report shocked the medical world. Gay have M brain, Lesbian have F brain, and transgender have the brain of the gender they identify with though their body development may not agree.
I've been researching everything I can about transgender since I realized ( age five) I was a girl not a boy. Obviously it isn't possible to remove the brain of a living person to examine if it is male or female but with modern science it isn't necessary. A brain scan will do that if the technician knows what to look for.
Walking into a loaded court with nothing more than just swearing everyone is wrong and I was born a girl isn't going to hack it. Courts want evidence, they want, lots of reference, they want something tangible. Medical research, lots of reference to lots of different hospitals, research labs, legal medical documents is proof. I skipped printing out most of what I found over the past forty years because some of those papers are more than five hundred to a thousand pages long. Back at the beginning it was a dot pin matrix printer and dial up internet. Sometimes I'd leave the download going along with the printer in the morning and come back for dinner to check how it was coming. That was a hundred pages or less.
We are going to keep losing if we only come back with, "I'm transgender, I'm a female." At one time in the late seventies many of the large corporations had special head hunters whose only job was to find and recruit transgender. IBM was one that comes to mind. You never heard or read about them because they were stealth. In my several thousand pages of research I'm not sure I saved the article. I might not be able to prove it either. The why is because they understood transgender are extra intelligent and they wanted that person working for their company.
Use that intelligence you were given to prove to the world, you aren't an abomination nor are you a throw a way part of humanity. Do it with intelligence and research.

They call themselves "ForWomenScotland", which I only mention because it explains their nickname, based on the fact that they are a front for some seriously nasty backers, and are a tiny group.
That nickname? "Four Women Scotland"
They are desperate at the moment because of two legal events. The first is the introduction of hate crime legislation in Scotland, which they frantically oppose as it will criminalise a lot of their excuse for rhetoric, which largely consists of "You're a man! Paedophile groomer!".
The other case was an employment tribunal involving a teacher called Kevin Lister. While that was in England, it will be influential in future Scots cases. The coberage of the case was wide but distorted before the result*, which has effectively been kept out of the media. Lister had a 17 year old trans boy as a pupil, and he refused to use his name or appropriate pronouns, which was reported in the press. What they left out was that he wrote his deadname on the blackboard, and when dealing with the lad simply pointed at him, as if he were an object.
He tried to groom other pupils to 'convert' the lad, gave unsolicited medical advice for which he is not qualified and breached data protection rules.. He breached so many aspects of his contract I lost count, and was sacked. At the Tribunal, he represented himself, misgendering and deadnaming the pupil throughout, and compared transition as the equivalent of becoming a suicide bomber in Syria. In fact, he used 'converting to Islam' as an example of a dangerous act. He also made a large number of very homophobic comments.
After the verdict, some FB posts were revealed, concerning a female paedophile teacher, jailed for 20 years for sex offences against a 13 year old. Lister's take on that was to refer to the 13 yo boy as 'lucky'.
That case, along with that of Mackereth, ruled that you can believe what you like, including being transphobic, but as soon as you act on those beliefs at work your donkey is greensward. Four Women are desperate to get a change in the law before their ability to vomit hate is stifled.
*That verdict? Not only did Lister lose every aspect of the case, but he is now barred from ever working with children again. In the immortal words of a wonderful late Welsh actor: "Oh dear. How sad. Never mind"
